RE: Work Hours and Job Satisfaction: What’s the Connection?

All of the points are correct. However, it all boils down to how much we love our job? I used to spend 12 hours a day at a call center job, work 4 days, off 4 days, I am pretty darn satisfied with the schedule, but the night shifts are just crazy. You don't get many calls in and still need to stay alert. If you miss one, you're gonna be in tons of trouble.

Most Asian countries like to practice "overtime" to encourage employees to stay back and be productive. However, I see that as a weakness in the working class society, where employers empower their workers to work with lower capacity but extended hours with extra pay. But then again, not wrong.

In the end, I think it's just how much an employee love what they do with their job. You will find one employee who loves their job so much that willing to sacrifice more time in completing their task and still ends up with a huge smile on their face; whilst the other asshole works half ass time and takes cigarette breaks all the time and still complains they don't get paid well.
