Battle Mage Secrets | Armored Up

The new weekly Share your Battle Challenge has been replaced by the Baggle Mage Secrets Challenge. The new challenge is no longer about a single card, but about a rule for the battles.

I like this very much, so one has more flexibility what one wants to show. Also, it is important for all newcomers to understand the single rules to be able to understand which cards can work well.
This also helps enormously in the guild brawls to achieve better results.

Description: All monsters get a +2 armor buff at the beginning of the game.

Armored Up is a versatile ruleset. First of all, of course, all cards without Armor benefit from it. But all cards with the abilities Rust and Shatter automatically become more valuable with this ruleset. Cards with low Hit Points that quickly fall victim to an Opporunity, Explosive, or Scatter-Shot attack benefit greatly from this rule.

The most obvious measure against this rule is magic damage. You can protect yourself against this by using cards with the Void Armor ability. Repair also becomes more important here.

A special feature is Resurrect. Resurrect revives a monster with one hit point, but the full number of Armor points. In combination with Void Armor, a tank becomes even nastier.

You see, there are a lot of things to consider.

My match had the following setup:

Lineup

Summoner

Since there were only 2 splinters to choose from, I decided to go with Quix. This was mainly because I wanted to counter a white ranged team.

Tank

As already mentioned, maps with voidarmor benefit especially from Armoredup. Alvar is one such card. For me a very useful tank. With Giantkiller also well suited to clear the really big chunks out of the way.

Position 2

From my point of view, Renova is a solid support card at a reasonable price. 3 Magic damage and Strengthen are useful. My strategy was to bypass Armored Up via magic damage, so it fits well in the lineup.

Position 3

With the Resurrect and Repair abilities, it is doubly valuable for my Legionnaire. Alvar has a total of 17 hit points in this fight due to Renova and Armored up, 10 of them 2x. so he will take up to 27 damage!
Adelade herself then still has 2 magic damage.

Position 4

The little mage slows down the enemies one more time. She also has some magic damage in her luggage and thanks to the Armor she can't be taken out immediately by Sneak attacks. She completes my team.

The Battle

image.png

My opponent opted for a counter against magic damage. This can always happen with Armored Up, since the most obvious strategy against Armor is simply magic damage.
Phase, however, requires speed to be truly effective, but with my 2x Slow, this falls away. In addition, my opponent's ranged fighters are further weakened.

image.png

The speed advantage is noticeable for the first time, my Time Mage dodged an attack. Both tanks are still standing...but that won't last much longer!

image.png

The Time Mage took some hits and had to be revived by Adelade. This now means for my tank that he no longer benefits from it. But Repair still helps him. Since it's already the opponent's turn for the Off Tank, that shouldn't be a problem.

image.png

Round 4, my tank is already a little banged up. My magic attackers can apply their damage well and the opponents tend to have rather low hit points. The best way to prevent damage is still to simply take out the opponent.

image.png

and they are becoming fewer and fewer. Scattershot has caught the Time Mage and soon the Cobra goes into nirvana

With round 7, the job is finally done, GG!

Summary

Armored Up is a cool rule that offers a lot of possibilities. Here in my match no other rule came up and I was able to get a win with the most obvious strategy, it's not always that easy, but Win is Win!

See you soon on the battlefield!
