Larry Is Alive #196 November 26, 2023: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for sunday, the 26th day of November, 2023. The EPL continues today with two fixtures. The first is the match between Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa. Villa defeated Spurs (1-2) at home on a day they remembered their former player and manager Terry Venables. The second match which is where Larry's interest lies, is the match between Everton vs Manchester United at Goodison Park. At the moment, Man United is leading by a lone goal via a Garnacho stunning overhead kick in barley the 3rd minutes of the game. Larry hopes United sustains the tempo till the end of the game. At halftime, Larry quickly rus through the day in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from India. He finds out that on this day in 2008, Ten gunmen, thought to be linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba, conducted a series of synchronised attacks in Mumbai (Bombay); the siege ended three days later, with at least 174 people murdered.

From India, Larry goes to Japan. He finds out that on this day in 1982, the leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party, Nakasone Yasuhiro, was elected Prime Minister of Japan, succeeding Suzuki Zenkō.

From Japan, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 1939, Tina Turner, whose original name was Anna Mae Bullock, an American singer who achieved fame in the rhythm-and-blues, soul, and rock genres, was born in Brownsville, Tennessee, U.S.A.

From the world of music and entertainment, Larry goes to Mongolia. He finds out that on this day in 1924, the Mongolian People's Republic was established following the defeat of the White Russians and the Chinese.

From Mongolia, Larry goes to Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1894, Nicholas II, Russia's last tsar, married Alexandra.

From Russia, Larry goes to Malaysia. He finds out that on this day in 1939, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Malaysia's prime minister from 2003 to 2009, was born in Kampung Perlis, British Straits Settlements colony [now Penang, Malaysia].

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today from Nigeria. He finds out that on this day in 2011, Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, a Nigerian military leader and politician who led the breakaway state of Biafra during the Nigerian Civil War, died in London, England.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry goes back to enjoy the Everton vs Manchester United match.
