Grim's Intro to Authority Bloggers Community + My Insights on Hive's Future
Hey, folks. Grim's here and this is my intro post to Authority Bloggers Community.

As for me
Name's Grim (at least what others call me), currently a student in his early 20s studying applied maths. Not much interest in studying, but in making useful stuff and putting them out there. Thus, currently on a break from university and studying, to focus more on practical skills development.
Things I've Tried in the Past
Welp, being this young I haven't had much of a past, but to sum it up it's been either school or programming - the only two things I'm good at.
I started with C++ back in high school and went ahead and experimented with C#, Java, Python, Django, HTML/CSS/JS later on.
Not proficient in all, but Python and JS are my go-to when I wanna do any kind of coding.
Have tried building a web app, but I was single-handed on the technical side and got burned out. (using Django)
C# is in my "To Learn" list if I ever resume my Unity game development, but that has to wait for now.
Among the things I really wanna try, but never got the chance to (mostly due to lack of equipment) are:
- Laser Engraving
- 3D Printing
- Woodworks
- etc...
The list goes on, but those three are priorities.
Goals
As for goals, I got quite a lot and they shift significantly according to my mood. But I try to name the most prominent ones and the ones related to Hive.
Making a Decentralized Game:
This one's been tickling the back of my mind for quite some time now. There is one major issue preventing big developers from doing so, and that is:
Lack of down-to-earth docs:
Now, there ARE some great docs out there, but as you know, this is the beginning of the Hive Blockchain's existence (in the same name, at least) so a lot more can be done and a lot more resources and tools can be created in the future, which brings us to the next goal.
Helping Hive Grow:
I believe every single Hiver/Hivian should be doing the same - promoting Hive in a way they can. It's an ecosystem giving OUT value to its users and it can't continue to do so if no one's putting IN any value. I excel at coding, that's why I want to help Hive grow by making a game. But that's not all, I also want to make a down-to-earth, step-by-step guide to decentralizing games/app, so that those with little to no blockchain knowledge can simply deploy their apps on Hive.
Last, But Not the Least:
This one's an old, dusty childhood dream of mine un-earthed by some good fellow Hivian.
To Own Entire Cities
This one was my wild childhood dream, to own lots of real estates and buy more each month just from the rent collected from others. I'd forgotten about this one after having dealt with the limitations of a centralized world, but after conversing with this friend of mine, I realized much more could be done on Hive than just the things currently available online now.
This final dream is to generalize Hive's utility. Imagine a world where you can send and SPEND HBD in your local supermarket. Now, they won't easily allow that, but what if we're the store owner??? That makes stuff a lot more interesting. There's a long way till we get there, but I'm willing to put effort and accelerate that - chipping at it little by little every day.
Final Words
By now, you must've realized how hyped I am about using Hive as a currency. As for the reason, it's simply because my country is under US sanctions and PayPal, the banks, good stuff, and everything is unavailable in our country, leaving us, the PEOPLE, with more problems. Decentralization removes that obstacle, and having more utility for Hive and having people from all over the world regardless of their native currency contribute to an ecosystem, creates something of immense value beyond imagination.
As for clarification, I don't want decentralization to completely overtake (as opposed to some fanatics out there), but I do believe that it can co-exist with the current system - both completing each other.
This must be tough, I can’t imagine!
How does this affect getting your crypto to fiat currency?
There are some exchanges that provide crypto services. I was lucky to stumble upon one of them which provided fiat to Hive exchange.
Though, I don't dare to keep anything in the exchange's wallet as they are not backed by the government - so no way of tracking your money in the event it gets stolen or anything happens.
I too have imagined a system where you can utilize crypto as the payment method even in stores. From a utility perspective, not only does it allow a currency that is not based on one specific locale, but it also allows a more streamlined buying process. Just as people love using apps like Venmo or Zelle to send money, the same phone-based interaction could be used as an interface for sending crypto, so instead of carrying cash or even a card, you simply need your phone. Additionally, from a security perspective, it would be much harder for someone to try to physically steal your currency because an encrypted wallet is much safer than physical fiat or a magnetic strip on a card. With HIVE there is even more benefit, because the transactions are so fast and are also fee-less. Technically speaking most of the systems are individually already there, with my previous and current experience I can make it. The only missing key is the adoption of the crypto from the users (store owners and customers.)
Yea, it's much more efficient. If Hive replaces applications like Venmo, the price would skyrocket.
As for adaptation problems, I think we should be the ones to start adapting. Like accepting Hive as well as the normal currency in what little shops we got or services we provide. That helps bring money into circulation and prevents overselling of Hive as well.
Hive as of right now has the perfect blueprint for starting a digital world/ecosystem(both economically and technologically), but we need more people onboard and more apps developed. If we can use it outside in the real world, then it'd be the perfect currency, Heck I wouldn't even mind if it were just HBD on Hive blockchain 😅
This is actually one of the projects I am working on, setting up resources and systems for small business owners to utilize HIVE for payments, transfers, and interactions.
Even though transactions on Hive are pretty simple as of now, having an implementation of it in the form of payment apps brings more exposure and makes it handier... looking forward to your works, man.
