RE: 2nd Anniversary of Our "Yes": Homemade Cakes, Halwa Puri and Midnight Burgers

The beauty with Hive is that we learn so much about other cultures.

Isha is a lovely name and I'm sure she'll make a wonderful wife in the years to come

Isha, if pronounced "E-sha", is the name of the fifth daily prayer. Change it slightly to "EE-sha" and the meaning becomes completely different: "she who lives".

I don't agree with how she spells her name either. Isha, Ayesha, Aisha... I think it should be Aisha, with the "EE-sha" sound instead of "E-sha". Her family treats Ayesha (A-EE-sha) and Aisha (EE-sha) as the same name, and they're 100% not.

But it's her name, so she can pronounce and spell it however she wants, hehe. It just annoys me a little sometimes, lol.

As for the other things, we already talked under the love marriages post, so you know "betrothed" is the safest label in Pakistani society, lol.

Here's something else you might find strange. In many cases, the man's family makes the woman move, walk around, and sometimes even show her feet, just to check her against their beauty standards. Isha never wanted to be seen by any man outside her Nikkah (official Islamic marriage), and she never liked the idea of presenting herself to the groom's family for approval.

So to this day, I've chosen not to see her. If I had asked even twice, her family would have shown me her face, or let me visit, or arranged a video call. I never did. Not a single interaction where I could describe her features. Yeah, a crazy guy in 2026 falling in love with a face he has never seen. But then again, who needs a physical appearance when two people have each other's backs through thick and thin?

I know it's a complex chemistry to digest, but Pakistan was never an easy place to live either. In a few years, Hive will learn about the traumas I keep mentioning, and the world will watch the ground shake beneath certain people's feet. People will wonder how someone stayed this positive while dealing with so much, and with the ugly faces of Pakistani society. They can't suppress the truth forever (not related to her or her family).
