Words of Hope ~

Art by Fallen on Reddit u/Moonlit_Fern - i just think this punk spyder is the best picture of hope.

Today I woke up enlightened with such a clean and tranquilized mind that I filled my day with entertaining music, sleep and ice cream, it was a good death for a lactose intolerant. But come on now, life is to be lived so I felt felt compelled to share words of wisdom from my internet investigations with you. Blessed be all the ice creams in the world which have given me hope:

“This is your sign to start being radically kind. I know how powerless the world leaves us feeling, but trust me, real social changes are a mosaic of small acts. Remember that kindness goes beyond niceness and that first and foremost you have to be radically kind to yourself. Be the love that observes, enriches and betters everything that’s around you. Fight bigotry with support of those in need, with gentle gestures and shared joys and sorrows. The cure to most of society’s pains is community, Work towards it by being purposefully and firmly loving. Rebel through kindness.”

“Give people what they need: food, medicine, clean air, pure water, trees and grass, pleasant homes to live in, some hours of work, more hours of leisure. Don’t ask who deserves it. Every human being deserves it.”

“Gentle reminder that crying is actually one of the best things you can do to relieve all that tension and emotion in your brain, and not to resist the impulse because it’s ‘weak’ or ‘unnecessary’ or ‘a plea for attention.’ If you need to cry, do it, even if you don’t always know the reason. Your body does.”

“When Travis Mcelroy said “what if you could just cut out the bullshit and do good recklessly?” and when Marc Avan Jackson said “now go do something good” and when Chidi Anagonye said “I argue that we choose to be good because of our bonds with other people” and when Brennan Lee Mulligan said “you, mortal beings, are the instrument by which the universe cares. If you choose to care, then the universe cares. And if you don’t, then it doesn’t.” and when Justin Mcelroy said “I’m going to wake up and do good and so are you and no one gets to vote on that.””

“To be truly radical is to make hope possible rather than despair convincing. – Raymond Williams”

“And I don’t believe I have ever seen something with such a powerful faith in humanity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something that describes such an unshakable connectedness, such an unbreakable will to exist. The apocalypse is happening and people are still fighting.
And I think that specially now, specially in times of such upheaval and uncertainty, and now with the threat of nuclear war looming from the darker corners of our political houses, we need more than ever stories that say what this one does-and I have never seen it more clearly and more beautifully communicated.
It’s not over until you stop fighting.

And may I introduce you the concept of Hopepunk:
“Let me see if I understand this correctly. Hopepunk is falling down seven times and getting up eight. Hopepunk is saying “No, You move.” Hopepunk is sometimes not staring into the abyss to preserve your own light. Hopepunk is getting crapped on by the Universe and saying “Though I tremble, crack, and shake I refuse to crumble. In fact Universe I’m going to throw all this back into your face by loving and trying and hoping even harder.” Yes?
Just so. Exactly, exactly so, yes. :D”
