Today was one of those days where work completely consumed me. I woke up early, settled into my home office, and dove headfirst into my work. The hours flew by so quickly as I tackled project after project, determined to get everything done. But in my zeal to be productive, I forgot one crucial thing TAKING BREAKS!
As the sun began to set outside my window, casting a warm glow over my workspace, I finally glanced up from my screen. It was then that I realized, with a sense of surprise, that I hadn’t eaten all day. Not a single snack, not a meal, nothing. My stomach growled loudly in protest, and I felt a wave of lightheadedness wash over me.
I reluctantly saved my work and shut down my laptop, acknowledging that I couldn’t continue without refuelling. It was already evening, and the thought of cooking something after such a long fast seemed daunting. Instead, I opted for something simple, maybe some leftovers or a quick snack. As I stepped away from my desk and into the kitchen, I felt a mix of relief and frustration. Relief that I could finally eat and frustration that I had neglected my basic needs for so long.
After working tirelessly, I realized I needed some vitamins, and i stepped out to get some fruits and fresh vegetables.
As I sat down to eat, I realized how important it is to maintain a balance. Working from home can be convenient, but it also requires discipline to step away and take care of oneself. Today’s oversight was a reminder to set reminders for breaks and meals, so I don’t find myself in the same situation again.
With my hunger sated, I took a moment to unwind. I sat back, closed my eyes, and let the quietness of the evening calm my mind. The day may not have gone as planned, but I learned a valuable lesson:) productivity doesn’t come at the cost of well-being. Tomorrow, I’ll strive to do better. For now, I’m content with a simple meal and the peace of the evening.
