Celebrity and Fan Culture: Understanding the Boundaries

In recent years we've seen unruly behaviors play out, but with celebrities and their fans, and sometimes I just can't help but wonder how we get to this stage and what triggers such reactions. Is it because of the love fans have for their favorite celeb that makes them go out of the ordinary, or do the celebrities not appreciate the love they're getting from their fans? In this article today I'll be talking extensively about my opinion on these and several other things that revolve around it.

From time past, I've seen people lose it at the sight of their favorite celebrities, be it a musician, actor, or several other professionals, and I can't help but wonder what realm they're in to do most of the things they do. I remember while growing up, I watched the late Michael Jackson's love performance, and during such, you'll see countless numbers of his fans faint and get carried out of the event venue for medical checkup, and it's kind of surprising to what these play out because I don't think I can ever find myself in that situation.

With time, that has evolved, as fans are no longer contented with seeing their favorite celebrities alone; now they want to touch, grab, and snap pictures with them regardless of the state such celebrities are in at the time, and being humans just like us, we can all agree that it's not every time we'll be in the mood to mingle with people, especially strangers, and seeing people breach your boundaries just so they can get in touch with you can be annoying, so seeing celebrities react the way they do sometimes, I can't help but understand their plight.

But then I understand; I don't think it justifies some of the ways celebrities react to their fans for coming close to their closure, because fans loving and interfering with their lifestyle is one of the prices you pay for being a celebrity, and knowing this helps you learn to manage your temperament well, especially when approached by fans when you don't like it. I remember watching several videos of celebrities kicking, punching, pushing their fans away, or even reacting to them negatively; it's not ideal and shouldn't be defended regardless of their excuses.

While I condemn the way celebrities react to their fans approach, it doesn't mean I appreciate or approve of the fans behaviors too. We are all matured and should do things in a more civilized manner. Yes, we understand you love this person and enjoy what they do. Yes, we understand you're thrilled to see them in person and want to touch to fulfill your desire, but then you must understand that they're also humans, and just as you yourself might not be pleased with some approach towards you, you should approach them with their consent to avoid stories that touch.

Overall we can't entirely blame both parties; instead, each should learn to do better in what they do, while the fans should be more civilized and well-mannered when approaching their favorite celebrities. Celebrities should also caution themselves when dealing with fans. I mean, celebrities need the fans more than the fans need them, and so they should be diligent with those who made them who they are, either directly or indirectly. I mean, if no one loves what you do, then you won't be in the position you're presently in.

I believe if everyone carried themselves in a civilized manner, we'll have less of such cases or fans behaving in an inappropriate manner towards their fans, like grabbing and the likes, and these will also reduce the likelihood of celebrities having to react aggressively, and when this is done, we'll have better and safer celebrity interactions.
