Literacy Alone Won't Save Us, Add Empathy!

This has never actually cross my mind until now, it's always good to come across prompts like this that makes one think deep about oneself and life in general. Education is an important part of life right from when one is born till old age, we continue to learn and many go to school to learn.

This shows just how important it is to be learned in whatever capacity possible. The importance of being a literate is even underrated as not everyone see it as a priority but somehow, everyone learns something whether between the four walls of school or trying to do a business.

The world will keep improving in many areas if people continue to learn and grow their knowledge in any capacity they see important for life but there is always a disadvantage when things are not done in moderation and the same goes for education in any aspect taken too much.

It's one great thing to be literate, I will always encourage people to learn as much as they can until the day they die as it never gets old and it's never a waste to learn but alongside that, it's greater for every person to be empathetic and if they are not, they must learn it to balance it up.

I can remember a scene I witness where a man who is believed to have gone to one of the highest levels of education, believed to be literate and knows so much, he turn out to have little or no feeling about anyone asking for forgiveness no matter how little the person has wronged him.

I know it's all personality and one's upbringing but I see all the literacy achieved useless when one's personality is nothing to write about and show no love to their neighbours or to people around. A world of literate people is not enough to save us from harm or hurt except we develop empathy.

With good literacy and empathy, I believe the world will have less hurt people and be a better space for love to grow. Imagine someone who uses his or her knowledge for something good and other humans benefit from it and if every person should do this, many would be happier.

While we're at it, learning to any height in life, we shouldn't fail to focus on being good at heart, showing kindness to people and trying to make the world safer to live in. It's no news that people use what they know to defraud or cheat people, some even go as far as killing their fellow human.

It's really sad what humans do to mankind because of the knowledge they have gained so I don't really see how only literacy can save our world, I'm even tempted to say an illerate with a good heart surpasses a literate by far but I'll be exaggerating my point which isn't so bad, right?

We need to preach empathy into the hearts of man more as they go about learning and increasing their knowledge with whatever reason they had to go for it, it's very important we do.
