Every morning on my way to Buhawen Elementary School, I am greeted by a breathtaking view of verdant mountains, towering trees swaying in the wind, and the soothing sound of birdsong. Unlike the hustle and bustle of the city, the air is clear and crisp. This daily journey is like entering a postcard of unspoiled natural beauty. The meandering paths dotted with wildflowers, the mist that occasionally lingers on the slopes, and the soft rustle of leaves remind me how fortunate we are to work in a place where the allure of nature is a constant companion.
We cannot ignore the reality that lies beneath this tranquility, though. Beneath the peaceful surroundings, a silent yet constant threat lurks. Buhawen is situated in a region that frequently experiences landslides, particularly during the typhoon season. The very mountains that give us comfort and shade can turn into a source of terror when it rains a lot. When the soil is wet, it becomes softer and is more easily moved. Massive boulders that appear so stable on bright days can suddenly become unstable and fall without warning. In just a few minutes, the same paths that are illuminated by golden light in the morning can become impassable, muddy, and dangerous.
However, we cannot ignore the reality that lies beneath the tranquility. Under the peaceful and verdant surroundings, a quiet yet persistent threat lurks. Buhawen is located in an area prone to landslides, especially during the typhoon season. When it rains hard, even the mountains that provide us with comfort and shade can become a source of fear. When wet, soil softens and moves. Massive boulders that appear stable on bright days can become unstable and collapse unexpectedly. In just a few minutes, the same paths that were lit up with golden light in the morning can become impassable, muddy, and dangerous.
The thought of being surrounded by nature's splendor while feeling threatened by its power is both terrifying and awe-inspiring. It serves as a sobering reminder that, while we appreciate the landscape, we must also acknowledge the forces that shaped it. On stormy days, getting to school becomes a test of courage and preparedness for both teachers and students. We all silently hope that we arrive safely, while parents worry and coworkers consult weather forecasts. The same road that welcomes us peacefully in the summer can quickly become a dangerous corridor.
Our dedication to education and passion for this community drive us forward, despite these risks. We now know how to accept both the awe and the caution. We practice disaster drills regularly. We carefully plan our trips and keep a close eye on weather updates. Even though we occasionally feel anxious, our commitment to the Buhawen children outweighs our anxieties. We remind ourselves that our best defenses against the unpredictable nature of nature are knowledge and alertness.
When I stand in the schoolyard after a storm, the sun peeks through the clouds, and the mountains sparkle again, it reminds me of the delicate balance between beauty and danger. Mountains that shelter us, provide us with clean air, and inspire us in our daily lives are also dangerous. My work at Buhawen Elementary School has taught me to value nature's gifts and never underestimate their power.
I am reminded of the delicate balance between beauty and danger when I stand in the schoolyard after a storm, watching the sun peek through the clouds and the mountains sparkle once more. Even mountains that provide us with refuge, clean air, and motivation for our everyday lives can be treacherous. I have learned to appreciate nature's gifts and never undervalue their power from my work at Buhawen Elementary School.
Despite the threat of landslides, falling rocks, and soil erosion, we remain committed to supporting Buhawen Elementary School. Although we are aware of the risks associated with every journey, especially during typhoons and periods of heavy rain, our enthusiasm for teaching and dedication to the children outweighs our concerns. We bravely walk the path every day because we believe that education is worth every challenge. Although the mountains present a threat, they also inspire us to be resilient and strong. Our commitment to shaping young minds propels us forward, demonstrating that a love of teaching can overcome any challenges that nature may present.
It happens mostly in the provinces. Just like ours. Be aware teacher's and be careful as always.
You are a great teacher because nothing can stop your dedication to teach no matter the weather is. It's very hard to have a situation like this especially in the rural areas but I haven't seen any government officials rendering services for like this instead I saw content creators helping in the very countryside place to have a better classroom or better roadways.
I admire your courage and unwavering dedication to your students, even when the journey is risky. This is inspiring and a powerful testament to the heart of a teacher.❤️
How many dangers must they go through to fulfill the most beautiful task that exists, which is teaching. May God protect your lives and fill you with blessings.
