Time flies! Just completed the 176th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!
Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.
For this brawl, I made the decision to move back to a Bronze level fray, which is where my cards are at. It proved to a good decision but I was back to winning form!
Had 7 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.
So for the final result, we were 5th out of 10 guilds and got 485 Merits and around 13 SPS! A whole bag of SPS! A decent finish this round!
Individually, I had 7 fights this time and I won 5 of them this time! Finished 4th within the guild. Due to change in format, wins are actually awarded to the players present in the fray if guilds decided to skip the fray. For this round, there was 1 additional win for me.
Let's jump into the battles!
Battle 1 - WIN
Gladius Card Used: Gorth and Chimney Wallstop
Gorth and Chimney Wallstop combination is usually very strong but with Enrage in the ruleset, things will always be tricky because it depends on the sequence and the accuracy of the hits. Gorth didn't fare well in this one but Chimney Wallstop stepped up to chalk up Bloodlust after Bloodlust, and eventually led the team to a nice win.
MVP: Chimney Wallstop
Battle 2 - WIN
Gladius Card Used: Larissa Kerato and Witch Of Warwick
These days I find it more advantageous to go with Dragon summoners because it gives me a wider depth of cards to select for battles. I guess I don't have that many cards so that's a good way to maximise my chances. Both teams came out with the same tank for this vanilla ruleset but my Magic lineup was the right one. The damage output was just too strong and it was easy win. Interesting partnership between Larissa Kerato and Witch Of Warwick as well.
MVP: Larissa Kerato
Battle 3 - LOSE
Gladius Card Used: None
This was one of those days that I was just stuck and not feeling sure about my lineup. Even though I lost this one, I thought my lineup was quite strong and performed well. The opposing Runemancer Kye was just too strong and I couldn't have fielded a better lineup.
MVP: None
Battle 4 - WIN
Gladius Card Used: None
What happened to my opponent? Lol. Against 1 card, this battle was done in just 1 round. I guess it was probably due to connection issues or the time for selection just ran out (which sometimes happen to me as well). Almost like a free win, shall take it!
MVP: None (almost like a free win)
Battle 5 - WIN
Gladius Card Used: Gorth and Chimney Wallstop
Another chance for a Gorth and Chimney Wallstop combination and we won again. My opponent had a decent lineup but Chimney Wallstop once again did well with those Bloodlust and sealed the win.
MVP: Chimney Wallstop
Battle 6 - LOSE
Gladius Card Used: None
This was a battle that went all wrong. I was hoping for Venari Marksrat to trigger Martyr twice for Crypt Beetle but I wasn't prepared against a Magic lineup. Astral Entity lineups generally fare badly against Magic lineups and this wasn't an exception.
MVP: None
Battle 7 - WIN
Gladius Card Used: Sarius
This was a Martyr masterclass lineup. Drybone Raider was positioned in between two cards with Martyr and hence Martyr was triggered twice. This meant it was able to deal 4 hits and 14 damage per turn, and this swept the entire opposing team away effortlessly.
MVP: Drybone Raider
So that sums up my 7 battles for this brawl! 71% win rate this time round! Hope to do better in the next brawl!
