MY MILLET ARE DUE FOR HARVEST

Welcome to my blog post, I hope your day as been nothing short of amazing, if so congratulations and if not, I wish you all the best, it's a delightful time down here with me, because the last time I paid a visit to my millet farm, I realize the millet and dim ripe enough for harvest, and this as filled my heart with so much joy.
The last time I visited the farm, which I wrote here , I talked about how the millet is almost ready for harvest, and luckily for me during the time I traveled back home to pack my stuff, I went to check up on it and I realize it's ripe and dry enough to be harvested.
Though I couldn't do that by myself due to my tight schedule and other activities I engage on while at the village, but like I said in the previous post, I've communicated with my siblings to help me harvest the millet, remove the chaff and make it ready to be processed into meal like Ogi or Elubo that'll serve us in the house and reduce the amount spent on purchasing meal.
While going through the farm, I noticed some of the millet steam have fallen, which is mostly likely due to the fact that it's over dry and due for harvest, unfortunately I didn't come along with any bowl to pack it, so I just left it there and hope we siblings will go harvest it as soon as possible, hopefully tomorrow.
Though I beg them to help me snap some pictures when harvesting it, but it they didn't, I might just continue with the process of turning the millet to proper meal.

Comrade @vickoly, you are really one man army-farmer. I used to think you do this as maybe a side hobby or something of minute magnitude. I bet you are into large-based farming. By the way, millet is what is called oka-baba, right? Where do you stay? I think I need to come and get a job at your farm really.

I don't farming as a business, most of my farm produce are for my family and I, so I mostly do it as a side hustle, but it's much because I usually take my siblings along.
Yes millet is also known as Oka Baba in Yoruba.

I use to stay in Kwara state,but I've move to Epe in Lagos few weeks ago.

Yes, it isn't a big farm like that, though I've them in different locations, but it's all in Kwara, I'm just trying to being one here in Lagos.
Only my cashew nuts are meant for commercial purposes.

I remember back when I was a kid, I used to love eating millet. My mom would cook it for me as a side dish, and I would always ask for seconds. It's been many years since I've had millet, but the other day I was thinking about how much I used to enjoy it.

Thanks so much dear, yea it's very expensive in the market, and that's one of the benefit of being an homesteader, you'll be self sufficient in aspect like this, cause most of your meal will be plant and process within the house.
One of the things I cherish in millet is its consistent health benefits for humans as it helps in maintaining a balanced weight, diabetes control, and many more. At least millet is high in minerals, fiber, and vitamins which is one of the reasons most African women love it for pap.
You're right on point brother, I was hoping to write a post on it health benefits one of this days.
That would be great and can't wait to get an insight from the post in advance.
