Welcome Splinters!

I would like to share with you a battle that was very interesting and, at the same time, very fun, at least for me! Something happened that I am affectionately calling reverse strategy, or simply, surprise your opponent by doing something unlikely or that seems to be illogical.

At one time or another you must have done this, in which you put together a very crazy and meaningless team and that ends up surprising our opponent a lot, bringing home the victory and well, I'll show you an example of this type now for us to observe.

Without further ado, let's go!

divisor3.png

Reverse Strategy?

OK, the name doesn't have much to do with anything, but I thought it was pretty cool to name it that way, as I simply did something that in my view shouldn't have gone very well and despite a little strategy here and there, in the end I think I was very lucky too.

Only, let's present the scenario to understand better!

What comes to your mind when faced with the following battle setup? What would you do to bring victory to you, with a mana capacity of 18, THORNS in everyone and to improve, only melee attack monsters?

image.png

That's where the reverse strategy comes in! Which in my opinion is the fact that you carry out a strategy totally contrary to what seemed to be correct or followed by routine logic.

image.png

I believe that many here would choose the earth element, perhaps because of MYCELIC INFANTRY and its skill SHIELD that would fit very well in this configuration, managing to reduce both the attack of your enemies and the return from THORNS.

Although we wouldn't have many options to help with adequate support, remembering that we could only summon monsters with melee attack, what support would be given?

With 6 mana left, who could step in and help? What if MYCELIC INFANTRY missed attacks a lot, because of its low speed? Only in the return of THORNS, would it be possible to win this battle?

Well, I believe it would be too complicated and we would be getting too lucky too, although we wouldn't have many correct options either.

What about the element of fire? We have some main options, such as those below:

image.pngimage.pngimage.png

We could try to invest in cards with a heavy mana cost and hope that the opponent doesn't have anything that could harm us, like a lot of shield or high speed. From these examples, we can see that it has interesting abilities and interesting shield values, which could hold the return of THORNS, as well as the attack of its opponents.

Also remembering that the summoner TARSA would grant +1 melee attack and life, so she would have a 100% synergy with her summons. Would that be the best option? How would you imagine the fire element coming into this match?

Lastly, we have the element of death, with some interesting cards like EVER-HUNGRY SKULL and HARKLAW, which could take a lot of physical damage and hold out in this battle:

image.pngimage.png

Obviously they are just quick examples, we have many others that could enter this battle and do super well, that's the amazing thing about Splinterlands, many strategies that seek a common result.

What about the life element? Ahh..., let's go to the next topic to talk about it!

divisor3.png

You will not believe!

Exactly, the element I chose was life, nothing better to overcome the challenges that lead to death, right? And the craziest thing was that I chose the summoner that grants +1 damage to units that attack from a distance!

image.png

Too risky? Too clueless? Certainly! I know that well, so how was the team put together? Watch below how I cast my dynamic duo, with CORSAIR BOSUN and SUNKAI HARVESTER, they would be my biggest bet!

image.png

But this wasn't just a reverie of my mind, there was a strategy behind it all, and its basis was precisely our captain's ability: REFLECTION SHIELD, which protects him from any damage caused by a return of an attack type and in addition the BLAST explosions.

image.png

Perhaps their position could have been more effective being changed, but at the time of battle, I didn't think about it, just that what I did was a true work of art, which certainly my opponent would never expect to happen.

  • CORSAIR BOSUN: Ranked first because of his ability to protect him from THORNS, robust attributes and the great possibility of surprising the opponent, causing damage for his attack and still returning 2 per attack suffered.
  • SUNKAI HARVESTER: I didn't have much choice with the mana I had left, so I put him to try to help take down the opponent's first position or just remove his shield, in addition to also having a little protection that could help Deal return damage to opponents.

divisor3.png

Battle

Finally, when it was time for battle, a big unpleasant surprise: my opponent just came from YODIN ZAKU! I thought that was the end of it, but amazingly, my strategy still worked!

image.png

The best way to demonstrate how this first round was, the most lively one, let's say, is with the GIF of how it all happened. We can see that CORSAIR BOSUN holds all damage coming from THORNS or BLAST, so it is immune to all of this, while it applies damage and its opponents too suffer return damage.

ezgif.com-gif-maker.gif

A totally protection-oriented strategy, while THORNS would do the dirty work. It was a surprise for both of them and it really worked, that's the amazing thing despite so many surprises in this battle.

ROUND 2

From now on, there's not much of a secret, because my warrior captain continues to apply 4 damage per attack, when my opponent's tank unit attacks, he receives +2 damage from THORNS, as well as TENYII STRIKER, attacking only on the shield and also taking 2 damage.

image.png

ROUND 3

This turn, the opponent's TUSK will be defeated in the same way, which suffered damage in round 2, taking the direct attack and then due to THORNS, already preparing the field for the end the game, TENYII STRIKER will have 1 life point.

image.png

ROUND 4

I don't need to say more, do I?

Considerations

Reverse strategy is a pretty fancy name for this situation, isn't it? Who usually selects a summoner that won't give any bonuses to their team? It's nothing out of this world, but we know that's not usually how it happens!

That's why I believe this battle was one of great surprises, as we can see that my opponent selected YODIN ZAKU which, in addition to BLAST and +1 life, also boosts his team with +1 ranged damage, which was not used in this battle.

Anyway, surprising, getting out of the basics and routine, can sometimes be the best way to victory!

Thank you very much! Until the next post!

Bem-Vindos Splinters!

image.pngimage.pngimage.png
