Wednesday Walking Upon Miller Bluff
For this week's #wednesdaywalk, I decided to hike a new trail that scaled to the top of a nearby bluff. The bluff is called Miller Bluff; historically, one had to traverse quasi-private/public land to get to the top. Today, there is a new public access trail that scales the geological structure. With temps a bit cooler today, I figured today was the perfect day to try out the new trail
This one started at 735 feet above sea level, and then ascended to a peak 1202 feet above sea level. Not quite Everest, but still a good hike to get the morning started.
The highlight of the hike was a newly found rock cropping. There are quite a few of these in the bluffs in this area, and this one is one I've never seen before. Thanks to the new trail, there are more fae homes to explore with my daughter!
Rocks weren't the only fun things on this walk to find. I also found another decayed birch tree riddled with woodpecker marks:
Another black cap beginning its descent into decay:
An old tree along the way:
I tried to get a "belated" summer solstice shot of the sunrise once I peaked the bluffed, but the trees were in the way. The gnats were awful, too. Around I turned and fled back down the trail to the parking lot below.
On the way back down, I noticed a section of the trail that had that "old rock/earth" feel to them. You know that feeling, too, I'm sure; it's when you scramble over rocks that feel ancient. There is no give to them, they are craggy, and your joints/knees can feel their antiquity when you walk over them. It's almost like you can feel the old Earth when you connect with them.
Don't mind the skinny ankles!
Thanks for stopping by to check out my #wednesdaywalk! I hope everyone else had a wonderful Wednesday too; until next week!
Watch out for the human traffickers at hivefest. You wont know it until its too late. STAY AWAY! Beware, traffickers can be women or men! They will act nice until they dont. There is human trafficking going on around this type of crypto. I have witnessed it. They literally have attempted my murder and are trying to kill me with V2K and RNM. Five years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism ..... https://ecency.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem if you run into one of them you may want to immediately shoot them in the face. 187, annihilate, asphyxiate, assassinate, behead, bleed, bludgeon, boil, bomb, bone, burn, bury, butcher, cap, casket, choke, chop, club, crucify, crush, curb, decapitate, decimate, deflesh, demolish, destroy, devein, disembowel, dismember, drown, electrocute, eliminate, end, euthanize, eviscerate, execute, explode, exterminate, extinguish, finish, fry, grind, guillotine, gut, hack, hang, hit, ice, implode, incinerate, kill, liquidate, lynch, massacre, maul, microwave, mutilate, neutralize, obliterate, off, pop, poison, punnish, quarter, ruin, shank, shock, shoot, shred, skin, slay, slaughter, smoke, smother, snipe, snuff, squish, stab, strangle, stone, suffocate, suicide, SWAT, swing, terminate, torture, terrorize, whack, waste, wreck. Love hiking the bluffs! I lived in Mauston for 10 years and there were some wonderful hikes around there, too! This looks like a beauty!
Oh yeah, Mauston is right on the cusp of the Driftless. Lots of cool lakes and coulees over there. It's definitely a hidden gem of the states!
I agree! The natural beauty abounds in the Driftless area of Wisconsin. But, shhhh, don't tell anyone!
Indeed not Everest but enough of a climb one will feel it for sure and what a beautiful area
I love the detail of the rocks and that decayed birch tree
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
"The old tree along the way" is my favorite image from the collection -- standing stoic even in death...
Thanks! I love those trees scattered all about in the bluffs in this area - it reminds one of something ancient and wise!
That is the perfect analogy and description! ☪️🌳☪️
