Share Your Battle - One Card To Ace The Bronze Leagues

The theme for the current "Share Your Battle" challenge is Molten Ash Golem, but I thought of sharing one of my best tip to date for Splinterlands!

Are you a new player who is not sure how to play Splinterlands? Or are you struggling to play against the bots in Bronze league? If you are any of the above, this is the post for you!

You just need Sea Monster! Don't look down on it just because it's a Common card. For low mana fights, which are plenty in Bronze, it can beat many other cards on 1v1 battles, even legendary cards like Djinn Oshannus. At Level 3, it deals 4 Melee damage and heal 3 HP per turn. There aren't many cards that deal such high damage and self heal.

As usual, here's the lore for Sea Monster for your reading interest:

There are rumors of Sea Monsters that can swallow a ship whole. The truth is, there are Sea Monsters big enough to swallow the Sea Monster that swallowed the ship whole. Most land lubbers cannot conceive how deep within the planet or how far beyond the horizon the oceans go.

I know what you are thinking, are you sure a Level 3 Sea Monster is that powerful? Don't I need a big card selection from different splinters to cater to the different battle modifiers? The answer is not really, and you can see my battles below. That's 5 easy wins in a row with identical lineups.

Battle #1: 12 Mana + Holy Protection

My Lineup: Kelya Frendul, Sea Monster, Torrent Fiend.

image.png

This lineup is almost guaranteed a victory (except for some battle modifiers). For 12 mana battles, there aren't many combinations that can overcome Sea Monster's self-heal of 3 HP per turn. As you can see from this battle, Sea Monster comfortably overcomes Djinn Oshannus even with misses because Djinn Oshannus' damage is less than its healing.

Battle #2: 24 Mana + Unprotected

My Lineup: Kelya Frendul, Sea Monster, Tide Biter, Hardy Stonefish, Deeplurker, Igor Darkspear.

image.png

24 mana battle means we can fill more cards but it's actually another battle where Sea Monster faces off with Djinn Oshannus and it's obvious which card will emerge victorious. Unprotected battles have no effect on Sea Monster too.

Battle #3: 22 Mana + Up Close & Personal

My Lineup: Kelya Frendul, Sea Monster, Tide Biter, Deeplurker, Hardy Stonefish, Torrent Fiend.

image.png

2 cards with Thorns on the opposing team but no issues for Sea Monster as well, because of the self heal of 3 HP per turn. I hope you can see that the cards in my lineup are very similar, which means you don't really need to buy or rent a huge deck to win battles in Bronze Leagues.

Battle #4: 16 Mana + Equal Opportunity

My Lineup: Kelya Frendul, Sea Monster, Tide Biter, Hardy Stonefish, Torrent Fiend.

image.png

Another similar lineup, another victory against Djinn Oshannus. Quite amazing that many players (or bots) are using Djinn Oshannus when Sea Monster does the job better in these low mana battles to be honest.

Battle #5: 26 Mana + Holy Protection

My Lineup: Kelya Frendul, Sea Monster, Tide Biter, Torrent Fiend, Deeplurker, Water Elemental.

image.png

Once again, it's Sea Monster vs Djinn Oshannus. No matter whatever the combinations the opponent throw out with Djinn Oshannus, even with a healer, Sea Monster when paired with the usual Water cards like Tide Biter and Deeplurker won't have issues.

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? A Level 3 Sea Monster is almost invincible in Bronze Leagues and it is still very powerful in Silver Leagues. As you can see, many opponents and bots like to use Djinn Oshannus because it is a powerful Legendary card but the lack of self heal makes Djinn Oshannus makes it impossible to overcome Sea Monster in low mana battles.

Do I like Sea Monster? Yes! It's one of the best card which has won me countless battles in Bronze and Silver leagues. It's so good that I decided to rent a Gold Foil because of my high usage and the higher RP and SP and SPS per win.

Final thoughts? Sea Monster is the one card to ace the bronze leagues and you have no excuse to say that Bronze Leagues are tough!

So that's all I have! What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!
