An Outing with our Pet Snek

avatar

Happy Sunday! I hope you're all having a great weekend. Mine was is pretty lazy, I have been drawing pretty much all weekend. But that's for another post.

Today I wanted to pop in and share a few of the many photos of our pet snake, our

Ball python: Simon

Over the not quite one year that we have had him we have taken so many photos, unbelievable, but - hey, we're no parents but we are pet-parents. And good parents take a lot of photos of their kids, right?

So far all of these photos were taken inside our house and mostly with my iPhone. Simon was on us (good heated branches that we are), on the window sill, the floor (no photo), Simon's tank - you name it.

Ball pythons are natives of the African continent and since it had been really, really warm for quite some time we thought this is perfect for Simon. Maybe we can take him outside for a photo shoot? Hmm, but what would our neighbors think? Who cares, it's our house even if a townhouse in a community.

We roused Simon a little early for him, they are nocturnal so we hardly ever see him during the day unless we catch him in the act of moving from the warm hide to the cold hide or vice versa. While David got Simon out of his enclosure I went to get my DSLR and trusty 70-200 mm lens which I haven't used in what feels like years... And then we all went into the backyard and got these photos.

Oh, and don't worry, ball pythons, especially Simon, are very slow. There is no way he could have escaped us.

Here Simon sees and smells grass for the first time, he was captive bred. He sat there on hubby's hand and took his sweet time getting used to all those strange scents.

Once he did, there was hardly any stopping him. He switched on his explorer mode - blelelele - all the time.

We also got some really nice snake periscopes, he was sniffing all around. And then even looked up this tree as if he wanted to slither up there - but no, he turned around back into the grass again.

And that's it, just a few photos of our pet ball python Simon.

Have a great rest of your day!

Cheers,

Hey, in my case, I don't know if I could have a pet like Simon, I'm really afraid of snakes, I congratulate them on your pet-son, really if I had one up close I would also take a lot of photographs. They are fascinating 🤗
