Use Your Time Right: A lesson from the older generation.

One of the lessons I've learnt from people in their late 60s is the importance of using your time right.

To be fair, you must have heard similar things from different age groups, but when you hear it from people that have lived that long, it becomes fairly obvious that they are not just yapping. The look in their eyes often shows that they are speaking based on experience.

Here is the gist;

A good number of people are always filled with regret whenever they think of the way they spent their time during their younger years. The memory is like a horror show to them. To add salt to the injury, they already know that they won't ever get those years back.

As you are reading this, are you proud of how you use your time?

It is not uncommon to see young lads who spend the vast majority of their time chasing cheap thrills and doing things that do not necessarily prepare them for a better future. They spend so much time doing nothing tangible while they allow the really important things to be postponed indefinitely.

Approaching life like that is an easy way to find yourself in the worst possible position in years to come. I believe you wouldn't want the time you are wasting now to bite you hard in the future. That's why it's important to redefine how you use your time.

  • Spend time with the right set of people.

  • Spend time doing things that will help make your future better.

If you think of the consequences of spending the vast majority of your time on irrelevant things, you will come to understand that it's like a recipe for disaster.

Using your time right takes a lot of discipline and you've got to look beyond cheap pleasures and focus on disciplining yourself. It will make it easier for you to spend time doing things based on the hierarchy of priorities.

Sometimes it's good, sometimes not.

There are people who are okay with good memories. Some go after for achievements, fame, status, wealth. I personally had real bad experiences, but it's okay... I cannot change it anymore, but it definitely help me mature and grow for the better.

My advice is not to fail more, but fail better. Fail on good stuff, so you can be a step closer to wherever you ought to be. :)

Wow. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this talking point. It feels good to hear this and I'm incredibly excited.

We've got to be ready to fail in order to learn

I could say that there are times I am using my time right, but there are those times I am not. Perhaps some days get me idle, yet I call it being inactive with a purpose. How I wish I have a whale of time to do whatever I want. I must say most of the time; I hustle hard. If there are times I am wasting it, probably, a little percent. And I so love the thought of redifining the proper time usage. Have a wonderful day, my friend. I hope you are doing well today. Have a nice time.

Yeah. This is nice point. What you said shows that you have a high level of self awareness. When it comes to time, there always come a time when we still have to do things that are not necessarily productive.

As far as we spend more time doing really productive stuff, it will make things so much better for us.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this.
