Ignore the whispers of scorners when you are going down a self-improvement road.

What you don't ever want to do is to underestimate the importance of getting involved with things that would prepare you for a better future. Interestingly, there are so many such things out there and you can start by fixing your nonchalant behaviour towards your future.

You know, life can be catastrophic and there are a lot of uncertainties in life. This is exactly why you can't just sleep and wake up each day to face what the day throws at you without any sort of planning or preparation. Nope! That's a really bad route to go down.

What's interesting about this life is that everyone (based on the general assumption that the world is dominated by sane people) dreams about being someone that commands respect. We want to be seen as competent people and we adore those who we know to be competent.

Well, if you adore such people, how about you do what's necessary to be competent, respectable, worthy of trust and successful?

Really, how hard can it be?

I mean, I know it's hard to grind yourself and discipline yourself to be the best version of yourself in the future, but think about the consequences of not doing those things. Lemme tell you, it may be hard to commit to disciplining yourself, but it is always worth the effort.

Oh, before you think I'm done... I want to let you in on a fact;

Once you start doing what's good for you, there will be people out there who will make it their business to troll and sneer at you.

It's like what happens when a lad who is known for being a druggie that lives a very rough and dangerous lifestyle suddenly decides to fix his life and change that lifestyle. One thing you can be sure of is that some of the people he hung out with will cajole him for that decision and they will want to get sneery and shame him for being a softie.

Sometimes, when you are doing things that will improve your future, you can get some fingers pointed at you as if you're doing something wrong, but whenever something like this happens you need to sit back and never allow yourself to play into the caricature. Don't allow the childish bickering from people to demoralize you.
