πŸ€ Rat Liberation Day πŸͺ€ & Hanging Laundry With Monkey-B πŸ˜›

rat.png

I trapped a baby rat last night, so today I rode up the mountain to set it free far away from houses, humans, and their hungry cats.

Blue Pumpkin-O-Lantern πŸŽƒ

sdsd.png

Β  Β  Β The first thing which caught my eye today for some Hive content was Monkey-B's first jack-o-lantern, but carved from the typical Cambodian blue pumpkin. Apparently she's seen too many jack-o-lanterns in too many English language movies and cartoons, so this day was time to create one for herself, and not a bad first try at all.

See You Later Alligator 🐊

Β  Β  Β When I was heading out the door to liberate the baby rat I trapped in the kitchen, I saw Monkey-B headed "upstairs," what we say when we head uphill to the shack. She was on her way to take the clothes out of the washing machine and hang them to dry, and she took the chair to help her reach the line because she is vertically challenged.

A Rusty Trap For Rat Relocation πŸ€

cxcxcx.png

Β  Β  Β Every time I trap a rat at night in the kitchen I set the trap outside so the rats can poop and pee, but not on our floor. Unfortunately our neighbor's cat usually terrorizes them several times throughout the night, and usually by the time I set them free, I've already fed the rat several times, and they become surprisingly gentle and dare I say, domesticated.

Β  Β  Β This little guy proved that his kryptonite is leftover popcorn, and wasn't able to resist the rusty box. After taking him a couple of kilometers up the highway and away from humans, I set him free on the edge of road. This one came out so slowly that I was able to get a few photos before it slowly climbed down into the drainage ditch.

Β  Β  Β As the little rat creeped out of the trap door to his new home, he turned to me and said, "I pooped on your toothbrush, thanks for the ride!" Well, a less comic version of that happened, the rat just looked at me for a moment, then slowly began his downclimb.

Full Throttle 🏍️

fffff.png

Β  Β  Β With my karma sitting at 1,500% in the positive due to my nonviolent rat relocation, I headed back downhill to the homestead, actually with no throttle at all because it's downhill, but "full throttle" grabs the attention so much more.

Need An Assistant Line Dryer? πŸ™‹

Β  Β  Β I wasn't gone long, so when I returned I quickly noticed that Monkey-B was making slow progress with her laundry hanging efforts. I gave her a hand, and she gave me a silly face in return, a pretty fair trade I guess.

Chai Time β˜•

nmnm.png

Β  Β  Β To finish the evening, I made some masala chai for everyone, but not without bringing it to a violent boil for maximum foam, something that Monkey-B has come to realize is the best part of a hot cup of chai on a cold day. That's all for now folks, I have a visitor from the USA coming in a few days, so stay tuned for that upcoming adventure.

I just cannot stand rats. Oy. Even the picture makes me shudder.

On a happier note, that jack-o-lantern was pretty awesome! Good for her!

Sorry for the late reply, been busy lately. Currently in the capital taking a visitor around the country. I feel the same about rats, don't know why they become cute after being in a trap overnight. Perhaps our new pumpkin carver will up her game on the next one.

Good for you mate. I do exactly the same with rats I catch on an almost daily basis. I use Koko Krunch! They can't get enough of it! The wife thinks I'm mental for releasing them and claims that however far away I let them go, they will still come back...righttttttt! I also caught a baby Kukri Snake last week who was absolutely gorgeous. I just moved him from the side of the house to behind the house in the 'forest'.

Glad to see you and the family looking like you're positively thriving and I send you all my best wishes. Take care fella :-)

Koko Krunch, I'll remember that. Some of the rats at our place addicted to human poo and bar soap, I guess they lack refined tastes. My wife also thinks the same like yours, always wondering if the rat in the trap is an old friend. Thanks for stopping by, and may your rat trapping be fruitful and plenty.

You're a rat freeing hero!!!!πŸ‘‹ He was soooo cute but I wouldn't have said that if I had him raiding my cupboards, or pooping on my toothbrush haha.

You're probably the only person in the world who fed a rat before getting rid of him haha.

The jack o lantern is very unique. I like it.πŸ˜€

I would feel really bad if a rat died under my care, because after all, they can survive on their own. With a few treats and some water, I figure they have a boost for their new fight for life in the forest, far away from peanut butter and jack-o-lanterns.

Yes, so far so good, but little time to document it and/or post about it. We're in the capital now and off to my old town this morning.

The first try of the jack-o-lantern looks pretty good. Did she gut the pumpkin first and did she get/need any help with the carving out?

She did gut it by cutting the top off and scooping. I asked where she learned so much about jack-o-lantern techniques, and she said "YouTube."

!LOL Yup YT and TikTok are so full of "hacks" and especially YT has a lot of tutorials. I even used some YT videos when I had trouble passing a class and after I "studied" with the tutorials I finally passed the class.

!LOL It's been "ages" since the library last saw me 🀣.

I actually used to love the library for the novels, but not for homework.

Glad Stuart survived. I think he meant he pooped on your tooth, and he use the brush to wipe his ass 🀣

Silly face for a house chore, that's a profit for you πŸ˜‚

In Malaysia, older people like their tea to be boiling hot. I however, prefer to me warm. I like the big gulp of warm tea rush through my system 🀣

What a perfectly inappropriate comment, this made start my day with a chuckle.

Nothing wrong with a warm tea, that's a Cambodian favorite, especially very weak warm tea. Most customers don't trust the water, so a pot of tea is usually sitting on every table at a locals' restaurant, not hot and not cold, but warm like Dave likes it πŸ˜‰.
