๐Ÿงบ Laundry Sucks, & So Does Homework & Washing Dishes ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Folding clothes is not something my youngest daughter is fond of, and she is usually unable to hide her disdain for this chore.

๐Ÿ˜ฌ Cold Weather = Cold Dishwater ๐Ÿฅถ

ย  ย  ย Today marks the end of the first week of school, and it didn't go as planned. So far it has been exclusively half-days, and before the first week was even over we were surprised with a two-day holiday, only in Cambodia. This means the girls have more time to help with household chores, and it has been a cold week so we are all bundled up in our warmest clothes.

ย  ย  ย Monkey-B quickly abandoned helping her sister with the dishes in favor of doing her homework. Homework in Cambodia usually consists of 10 minutes of work at most, so it wasn't long before Monkey-B was finished and I reminded her that Srey-Yuu was out in the cold and washing the dishes all alone.

Podcasts & Dishwater ๐ŸŽง

ย  ย  ย I went out to check on Srey-Yuu and provide some emotional support, and found her wearing a t-shirt as if it wasn't freezing outside. We had to relocate the dishwashing station because the sand pile next to the former location casts off sand particles during heavy winds, not good for dishes or the dishwasher.

ย  ย  ย Monkey-B stopped by to offer some support, but Srey-Yuu let her know this is a solo show and no help is required. With plenty of other work to do, I headed back inside to finish my duties and Monkey-B went to clean her room and make her bed. That pretty much concludes the highlights of today, hopefully some exciting content is on the way soon, but until then I hope you enjoy snapshots of mundane daily life here in the Cardamom Mountains.

Meditation can't start at young enough an age. Greetings from an experienced dishwasher who started honing this skill of his at a young age.

Haha, yes, dishwashing remains one of my favorite restaurant jobs because I can listen to my music and don't have to worry about customers ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Interesting post, it's true what you said, it's not good that the pile of plates is near the sand, because surely the wind will blow and the dust will fly.

I think living somewhere in Cambodia is the same, important work you have done and good habits of all of us, but I secretly admire and acknowledge that you have prepared to advise your children Good and plan for a happy family future.

Our daughters don't like chores, but I guess not many children do. I guess the important thing is that they learn the value of hard work. Thank you for stopping by sister.

No one likes folding laundry. Noooo one. And putting away laundry is even worse. One thing I will not do is match socks. I'd rather amputate my fingers. ugh.

it's true as you said that washing dishes is indeed a job that some children really don't like. but over time he will get used to this job.

I hope so, and someday we will have a sink and running water, then this job will be much easier.

You have a new stove, so couldn't a pot of water be heated so the dishwater isn't so cold? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

We do occasionally heat water for hot showers, but never dishwater. I do prefer cleaning dishes with hot water for sanitary reasons, so one day I plan to install an electric water heater under a future sink.

It is this sort of mundane stuff that made up a happy family. Glad Srey-Yuu owned the dishwashing department. She finally realized that's the least boring job, one can rest the brain and keep the motor function going whilst listening to podcast.

You're right, and I think it's also a chance to escape the family. Often times we get on her nerves, and she needs a little meditation time away from us, and dishwashing is a perfect excuse.
