πŸ¦ΈπŸΏβ€β™‚οΈ Don Cheadle As Captain Planet 🌎 Best Politically Incorrect Parody Ever πŸ‘

capy.png

I grew up watching the Captain Planet cartoon series as a young boy in the USA, and when I discovered Don Cheadle's Captain Planet parody several years ago, I thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen on screen.

The Original Captain Planet Cartoon πŸ“Ί

Β  Β  Β Captain Planet has been on my mind since a recent comment on one of my posts by @quinnertronics. This American cartoon series aired in the early 90s, but I'm not sure if it ever aired in other countries. I was seven years old when it aired for the first time, and I was hooked immediately, and hellbent on saving the planet from Captain Pollution.

Β  Β  Β Cambodian tourists that come here to the Cardamom Mountains, and locals too, throw their trash anywhere they please without a care that this area is one of the last great forests of Southeast Asia, and probably the last place in Cambodia teaming with biodiversity. It is really frustrating to me because at the very least the older generation should care about leaving a healthy environment for their grandchildren to grow up in, a place not covered in plastic bottles and soiled diapers.

Β  Β  Β Cambodia really needs a Captain Planet kind of hero because it would do a lot to foster a basic care of the earth here. The following parody is funny regardless of whether or not you might've ever seen Captain Planet before, but I provided the intro and a short clip so you can get a feel for what this show was all about and the character of Captain Planet. The important thing before we move forward is to know that this cartoon series was G-rated and

πŸ¦ΈπŸΏβ€β™‚οΈ Don Cheadle's Captain Planet Is Hysterical πŸ˜‚

Part 1

Β  Β  Β When I set out to make this post, I hadn't watched these minisodes in at least three years, but sure I laughed so hard I shed a few tears, Don Cheadle is a comedic genius. There are so many classic one-liners I had forgotten over the years, but here are the highlights from part 1,

"The wood is good!"
"Human......tree! Tree! Tree! Tree!"
"Everybody's a tree, I knew I'd do it."
"I'm going back up, don't summon me again unless you ready for that pain.....peace dkholes!"**
"The power is mine bitches!"

Β  Β  Β I totally forgot the pelvic thrust lasers, that actually made my eyes water, and the the fake attack that made the Planeteers flinch and recoil, both had me in stitches just like the first time I watched it.

Part 2

Β  Β  Β Part 2 is just as good as the first one, the opening scene with him in a blue business suit had me rolling before the action even started.....I forgot how good these clips were. The newscaster states that "The once beloved hero is now corrupted by his own power," letting you know he's gone to a dark place. The office scene is the highlight without a doubt.

"Captain Planet turned my daughter into a tree, and my wife."
"Mai-Tai, is this synthetic polyester? You've lost your power ring privileges, hand it over."
"I heard you went insane...............I heard your broccolis."
"Trees are still my jam."

Part 3

Β  Β  Β The suspense and terror builds with each minisode, making you wonder how much more ridiculous things will get. The part where he tricks the guy with the canvas bag question is one of the best parts. He even invokes some Indiana Jones vibes with his quote while holding the heart.

"Would you like to be a greentop? Do you know what else has greentops? Trees, called leaves!"
"You got tree envy, bitch?"
"So you shop for produce at the supermarket instead of your local green grocer?"

Part 4

Β  Β  Β The last gets even more ridiculous, Captain Planet has created an altered ego, "Croc Peterson," and cast himself as a Steven Seagal type character in an action film. When they learn that his kryptonite is woodpeckers, he goes on a rampage and tree-ifies everyone on the planet, unknowingly creating a natural habitat for woodpeckers in the process. There a few memorable quotes in this one too,

"Sorry everybody, I thought it was a woodpecker, I hate woodpeckers."
"No witnesses!"

Thanks for riding along with me on this trip to silly town. I just wanted to have some fun today, and creating this post was just an easy way to monetize the laughter I found today.

I am not sure if there was ever a movie, only the cartoon series on TV and 4 parody YouTube shorts. If there ever is a movie though, Don Cheadle definitely needs to be Captain Planet.

Ohhh, that would be a nice one then, if it was in a movie

There wasn't a movie that I recall, just the original cartoon series and the parody YouTube shorts. I prefer the parody over the real thing though because I am a comedy fan.

I loved this skit or whatever it was. Turning everything into a tree. Don Cheadle was priceless as Captain America. Having a hard time finding comedy skits this funny nowadays but perhaps I'm not looking hard enough.

I can still remember the first time I saw the first episode. I knew it was going to be a funny skit from the start, but when he started pelvic thrusting the lasers, I lost my mind and began laughing hysterically. Don Cheadle is usually a very serious actor, and I'm not even sure if he'd ever done a comedic role before this. By the 4th episode he's lost his mind and become a Steven Seagal type character, absolutely hilarious.

If you love this kind of dark and politically incorrect humor, another good skit channel is Gilly and Keeves, it's some of the hardest laughs I've had in years as well. They've done over 15 skits on the channel, he's a standup comedian, his most recent special is very good too, also on the same channel.

Yeah Don Cheadle in those skits/episodes was fantastic. Loved basically every second of it lol.

I’ve never heard of Shane Gillis but I just watched about five of those skits and the live stand-up in Austin Texas. Laughed super hard. The bit about his drug-addicted sister felt a little dark but the rest was pretty hilarious. I’ll have to watch more of his comedy and the Gilly & Keeves stuff.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Then why didn't he just turn the woodpeckers into trees too 🀣

Why not let the girls make one???

Here's some links that might help with the plastic bag situation :) ...

Is it allowed to use the Asean tag in relevant posts submitted in other communities???

You're right about the woodpeckers, he should just laser them too, but I guess all logic is already out the window in this skit πŸ˜†.

I have in the past experimented with crocheting plastic bags into other things, it's a very smart repurposing. We mostly use canvas bags for shopping, so we don't ever get many large bags, mostly our waste consists of tiny unrecyclable mixed foil/plastic package, things like black pepper, spices, glue, and other items are sold like this. We've reduced our household waste to just a small handbag per week, but no matter where we take it, I think the end result is that it gets burned.

I like the Indian incinerator idea you shared, hope this technology becomes affordable and scaleable in the future, but right now burning plastic would release too many dioxins. I did see a page about building a water mist trap to catch plastic smoke, but then I'd just be stuck with some toxic water that I don't know where to put. It's clear longterm we need to become more self-reliant concerning food, and this will go a long way in preventing trash accumulation in the future.

Theoretically you could use the #aseanhive tag outside the community, but I personally have not found time yet to curate outside the community, so I don't really search for the tag. It is however something I would like to change in the future, because curating beyond the community would increase general awareness of ASEAN Hive.

It sounds like there's really no solution to the trash problem, at least for the average citizen 😒...

I wonder if that toxic water could be filtered somehow? If so, the resulting waste should be very small, and could be disposed of maybe once a month or so, in a bigger city that has a landfill?

It really could be a good way to get more people in the community :) ... Especially if you include a short intro of what it's about, and that everyone can join in, etc

We've kind of realized the best we can do is just to reduce as much as possible, then only throw trash away in places we know it won't ultimately get burned. I'd love to organize a trash truck for the village to come once a month, but I bet residents here wouldn't even donate one dollar to such a cause.

How much would it cost???

Hiring a private car back and forth is around $20, so I imagine a commercial sized truck or even a fully loaded pickup truck would be enough to take care of our village for one month. That's around 50 cents per person per month, and all of the soldiers generally make at least $300 a month, easily affordable, but that money is gonna get spent at the casino instead.

I wonder if a Hive initiative might work, at least to start it off and get everyone used to a clean village? Similar to the borehole project in Africa... The truck would feature the Hive sticker with link, as would the barrels.

Also, if I do a post or two before Christmas inspired by Mey-Yii, would you be willing to hold the funds for her as HBD, and use it to make what will probably be her first Christmas special?

We discussed the idea of a trash truck, but the biggest problem is that Cambodians are accustomed to living among trash heaps and burning it daily, it's almost a past-time in some way.

If you want to try and help Mey-Yii in any way, I am glad to forward the funds to her, but it would be best to buy something she needs or her grandma is likely to confiscate the money.

We're currently worried about her right now, her grandma has giving her the keys to a new 125cc moto, and she's zooming up and down the national highway all day with zero lessons, not aware of the potential dangers. Clothes are something her grandma never takes the time to buy, so perhaps we could get some outfits from the big city with the potential funds.

Clothes? That sounds like a great idea, but can we get her a helmet and protective gear first??? The sooner the better 😲 Is Grandma trying to get her killed?!?!

I'll see if she has a helmet, she certainly doesn't wear one when riding, but neither do the adults, not a good rolemodel in sight around these parts. My wife went to see her Grandma the other day and let her know that I no can no longer afford to take all the village kids to school because because the parents aren't reimbursing me and also because it takes up so much of my time. While she was there the Grandma didn't once look her in the eye or take her eyes off her phone. When asked how she will get Mey-Yii to school, she said basically it doesn't matter because Mey-Yii is not going to be an important person. Glad I wasn't there because I would've strangled her for saying that.

I'll see if she has a helmet

Whether she does or not, she needs the proper clothing if she's going to ride at those speeds?

While she was there the Grandma didn't once look her in the eye or take her eyes off her phone. When asked how she will get Mey-Yii to school, she said basically it doesn't matter because Mey-Yii is not going to be an important person.

How can she possibly know that?!?! Mey-Yii could be our next scientific or artistic genius. Or she might lead her village into an age of prosperity. She's her own person, with her own path to follow...

Glad I wasn't there because I would've strangled her for saying that.

That wouldn't be a very good example???

I agree, the whole situation is frustrating. Update - the mother and the man she abandoned Mey-Yii for are now living with the grandma, so the trifecta of hate is now sharing the same roof with the girl none of them want, I feel so sorry for her. She's missed school for two days because she's "sick," but I don't believe it. I would like to see her to make sure she's not being beaten, but the mother and her husband are very cold and rude, could be a whole new can of worms I'm not ready to open yet.

I pray she's ok 😒 Do you think they might do something even worse to her???

I've never talked with the estranged stepfather and mother, but they seem like cold people, and the stories in the village about them are pretty upsetting.

She's missed school for three days already, and I sense they are trying to potential bruising. Usually we check Mey-Yii for bruising, and I think her Grandma knows this, so I honestly think whey they beat her they say she's sick and she misses school for three days.

How old is she? This can't go on forever, either something really bad will happen, or she'll run away.
