This isn't a pitch, but to frame this post properly I need to reference a project we started in the CTP community a few years ago.

It's called, StartEarning.Today. It was a funnel of sorts to help introduce people to not only Hive, but also our community and everything we're trying to build on the blockchain. The main idea behind this project was to get people to actually start earning small chunks of crypto, by replacing their Web 2.0 platforms with crypto and Web 3.0 related platforms.

Don't use Chrome...Use Brave Browser.

Stop supporting Medium...Start blogging on Hive.

Google has enough business...Use PreSearch instead.

I've been a huge proponent of changing what you use every day online and start using the crypto / blockchain equivalent of it. Become a true product of your product in our case. And it doesn't stop there.

I don't use YouTube as much as I use 3speak. Forget Instagram for me it's all about Liketu. Haven't loaded up Twitch forever, I use Vimm.tv multiple times a week. Twitter is cool and all, personally I'd rather Thread on LeoFinance.

The last frontier was online messaging for me. When we started out we decided to go with Telegram cause that's where the cool kids in crypto were apparently. But we're on Hive and well, Hive people love themselves some Discord....

So imagine my excitement when I see this Tweet from the good folks @peakd

A Hive based solution to Discord?

Yes please!!!!

So 'Sting Chat' was opened up for mass testing yesterday and it's safe to say I jumped at the opportunity.

Obviously this is still in development but their MVP is absolutely remarkable.

What's so cool is that PeakD linked your Hive account to all the communities you are a part of, and populated them inside your account in Sting Chat. But check out all those active communities already....

Shout out to @neoxian for the massive activity already in chat.

Just wow!

Heck when @taskmaster4450 found out about it, we started trying out the encrypted personal chat back and forth...As you can see, we have extremely intelligent conversations...

Yup, you read that right....Encrypted personal messaging is now on Hive with this slick new app.

I'm just floored by these kind of projects that launch on chain and the potential for this could change community and communications on Hive forever. And I'm all for it :)

I'm most looking forward to seeing how they integrate this into PeakD itself, which adds another huge massive use case to the popular front end.

But here's the biggest 'ah ha' moment for me...It's another step into being rid of Web 2.0 in my life LOL

Seriously, I'll drop Discord in a second....If we all made the move over to Sting Chat. But I know, that'll take some time. Still, it's such a powerful app right now as is, and it'll just get better and better.

Yeah man, we are way too addicted to talking and communicating on these platforms. Nice to see Peakd step up and get this thing developed. Be interesting to see if we adopt it.

That's cool, discord was probably one of the last web2 things to get a web3 verison on hive

Hive blockchain has solution for all
As you already mentioned the replacement of many apps is already available on hive dapps
The new addition is awesome...

Good to see, sadly I can't send a message there somehow. Log in works and everything, but sending the text message out does not work for me.
The send Bottom does nothing haha

Exidet to figure naoy have this here on hive, now it just needs to work haha

Does it have all the features that Discord has? I know that there are a lot of bots in Discord and I wonder if those are added into the new PeakD option.

Not all, just cause of the dev and money behind Discord it'll be hard to match that. But the DNA is there for sure, excited to see what they do with it.

Saw the tweet and have to check it out but it opens up a host of new possibilities.

If they create an easy sign up option.
Premium accounts.
Need RC to use it.

Then oyu could delegate a minimum RC for people to get started and with premium accounts buy or lease RC to them for extende duse case.

Just opening thoughts for large scale adoption.

It's cool, but I don't think it is quite there yet. Not surprising given that they just launched it. There are some communities on Discord that don't have actual community pages on Hive, so they didn't come across. I am not sure I would be able to leave those unless they port them over somehow.

Oh no doubt. It's a great start but not where it'll need to be to make it a tru viable alternative to Discord. It's coming though!

It definitely is. I like what I see a lot already. I think giving it the same look and feel of Discord was as smart play. It should be a relatively seamless transition for a lot of people.

I like the sound of new service and new dApps that always release each month or say quarter on hive. I know sustaining the service is one of the hard things. But it is good to see something new things started these days. We need more variety of apps on the hive.

It's pretty cool and a great way to start being able to talk a little more one on one with people from hive. Only thing next would be more development for things that discord has that are popular and used on servers. Wonder if that would be a nightmare to code though and security issues.

I am like you, @jongolson, I LOVE using non-legacy platforms. I was an early adopter of Brave Browser, on both mobile and PC years ago when it came out as a fork from Chromium. I started using Presearch after witnessing the visual decline of DuckDuckGo. I love LeoThreads, and hate Twitter. I never liked Twitch, a fellow Hive user introduced me to VIMM.tv after I Threaded about my latest gameplay update from Dragon Age: Origins.

I am very excited to use Chat.peakD and look forward to all Hive communities deleting their Discord communities and onboarding their users to their native Chat servers on Hive instead.

Also one thing that was seriously lacking with Hive was P2P encrypted chats. I hate Telegram and Discord, and look forward to the day when neither has to be used to reach people around the globe again!
