HELLO HIVE

I began this farm from just the stem of a potatoes to the beginning of a huge harvest from this farm. Some time back I raised some concern on the sudden change in color of leaf and how some of the stem where not growing as it used to do but were drying up.

Then I also thought this could also happen because of the period the plant since it is very common among sweet potatoes plant to experience a change in color from the very healthy green color to yellowish color that most farmers see in green plants as a sign of disease in the plant.

I ended up guessing right that the plant has gotten to its harvesting period and that was its own way of showing that the sweet potatoes tuber that is under the ground has fully matured.

After digging up the ground I can see that the tuber have matured although am not totally happy with the size of each of the tuber cause I feel it should be bigger than this given that the land is very fertile and have been using it to do most of my planting to some years now.

The other probable cause of this would either be that it has been affected by some kind of disease that is manifesting in form of the yellowish color its showing or maybe the short break in rainfall that might have occurred just when the tubers where growing bigger since the sweet potatoes plant has to have good rainfall during that period in time and this is actually important in most plant that there should be adequate rainfall when it is about to produce to ensure it maximizes its production capability.

Harvesting is not done once in sweet potatoes so once i see a big stem from the ground i would assume its ready then I would dig up and cut it from the root and return the root back into the ground because there could be small sweet potatoes tubers that are just maturing and it would not be right to hamper their maturity because of another tuber that has already matured.

All together I am happy since its not like it did not produce or maybe the production was that bad.
