Question Of The Week 10.6: What Should We Be Eating To Be Healthy And Vibrant?

High time for my friends to join and engage in an ecotrain community. Even if you don’t want to write about the contest, there is resourceful information that will help in all ramifications of life. I participated in most of the contests and I also read articles from different authors here. The Ecotrain contest is like providing solutions to what some people are going through in life. Four months ago, when I saw an ecotrain question of the week saying, “what does spirituality mean to you?”
This really questioned the level of spirituality with GOD and gave me insight of how I can improve. I also realized that the world spirituality is not connected to Christians, Muslim and traditional worshippers.
The word has different meanings for individuals based on different articles read in the ecotrain community. If you look at my post, I was just narrating spirituality in Christian perspective. You can check what I have written about spirituality here
Reading other people's articles broadened my ideas and gave me more knowledge about spirituality.
It is really true that, “no man’s is an island of knowledge”.

I thought miracles only happen in a setting but after reading so many articles, I realized that we all experienced miracles every day in our life. if you Check my post about have you ever witnessed a miracle you will notice I was talking based on my level of understanding. After reading many articles about the question of the week: I realized sleeping and waking up is a miracle.

The question for this week is “what should we be eating to be healthy and vibrant?”
I am going to share what I eat that keeps me healthy up to day, apart from the post I shared about my village in which I wrote ‘we don't get sick’.
Yea, we don’t get sick but if you don’t eat healthily, your immune system will not be strong enough to fight against some diseases in our body.
Remember, the food you eat is a drug. A balanced diet gives you all the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy and vibrant.
I am going to share some of the food I eat and what i do to keep me healthy and vibrant:

  • Exercise: don’t joke with exercise, it has the ability to combat diseases such as arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteoporosis and many more. You don’t need to run 200km in the street or you don’t need to go to Jim's house.
    When I woke up in the morning, I used my room to do simple exercises such as push-ups, jumping jacks, sit ups, leg raises etc.
    People who are not active often fall sick, because they did not exercise their bodies. They easily get attacked by sickness and diseases.
    That is why sedentary life is associated with poor health. What do i mean by sedentary life- sitting all day without activities, air conditioning in the house, car and home without doing anything and watching television 24/7.
    All these can have negative effects on your health that can deteriorate your health.
  • Water: After I completed my exercises in the morning, i drank two glasses of water because i love water so much; took my bath and headed to my office.

  • Fruits: I don't actually have time to eat in the morning. Hence, I resumed back to the office as early as 7:00 in the morning. I have someone as a customer who always brings fruits to me my office in the morning: the price is #250 approximately 46 cents. The fruits are a combination of pineapple, blackberry, pawpaw, carrot and watermelon. The fruits are packed and delivered to me.
    This is what I eat in the morning but not all the time.
    Whenever I feel cool in the morning, I heat water and make tea and milk to keep my body warm. But the moment I take this in the morning, I don't eat fruit in the office.
    In the afternoon, I eat different varieties during my lunch, such as rice and soup, eba and egusi soup, beans, vegetables, fried yam, roasted maize, wheat, and many more. I make sure I add fish and other sea foods to whatever I eat. I don’t actually like meat, I eat meat once in a blue moon.

My dinner is almost the same as my lunch. But I love drinking blended fruits in the evening. Pineapple, watermelon and milk.
I peeled both pineapple and watermelon, removed the watermelon seeds and blended them together, sieved the residual away and added milk with it.
I do this whenever I want to sleep but all the time: it is like a sleeping peel for me.
I don’t always drink minerals such as coke and Pepsi. I always stay in a cold place: drinking such a drink without vigorous exercise can make it store in my tissues or increase my sugar level. I drink coke and pepsi occasionally.
I love taking raw milk, it is very accessible in my area and very cheap. I drink this instead of minerals.

  • Don’t starve yourself to avoid ulcers. Make sure you find something to eat in between lunch and dinner. I like eating roasted plantain and groundnut with raw milk.
    If I did not see the raw milk in time, I used yogurt instead.
    I don’t take refined sugar; I have honey in my house. If I needed to add sugary substances to my food, I used honey. Diabetes is associated with a high risk of sugar, and if one has a history of diabetes in his/her family, it is not advisable to take sugar because such disease can be triggered when taking something that can cause it.
    It is believed that old people are at risk of having diabetes, but I want to curb everything from this moment of what can cause any disease to my body. Not until I am old will I begin to stop eating what can harm my health.

  • Beware of packaged foods, some of them have high concentrations of sugar.
    More than one month now, I have not tested biscuits, but my friend bought Pepsi for me 3 days ago. It can be 10 or 14 days before I take another Pepsi or other drinks related to Pepsi like coke.

  • Plan Your Meal: it is not good to eat voraciously, you have to plan your food, it is very important to plan your meal. It is good to rotate what you eat at times.
    It's not good to eat the same food every breakfast, lunch and dinner. You have to rotate them. What you eat for breakfast today should be different tomorrow.
    Though, I love eating fruits as my breakfast, but I don’t eat the same fruits all the time and also, I don’t eat fruit every morning.

*It's Very Important to Eat Vegetables of Different kinds: I eat vegetables of different kinds.

*Eat Regularly: don’t skip meals. Make sure to eat food at the right time.

One needs to eat different meal every square meal. The food you eat during breakfast today should be different tomorrow. This is a way to change your diet into a more good nutrient.

I love exercises, drinking water and taking fruits and vegetables too.

I love how you eat your food as this is a proof you are eating healthily especially taking fruits and fruit juice.

I like to eat different colored foods and also have something that is below ground, The colors represent the different nutrients needed. I believe if you mix it up like this you will get all of the nutrients you need. Variety. I think Edger Cayce the sleeping prophet said something similar.
