Home is where the heart is

This week's POB Photocontest organized by @friendlymoose is themed ¨Houses¨.

And of course this is a topic that everyone can participate in. Everyone has houses around them. You most likely live in a house every day, at least I assume you are not homeless. So let's take a look at the theme "Houses".

From Apartments to Detached Farms

Everyone knows. We see it all around us every day. But just to be clear, I'll say it one more time. Houses come in all shapes and sizes. Small and large, young and old, detached ... or packed together. City or village, it doesn't matter. Everywhere in the world you look there are houses! And yes, of course I am aware that not everyone is lucky enough to live as desired. Not everyone lives in the house of their dreams. Some people are locked up in small houses, where privacy and tranquility are hard to find. And some people live in a house where only a small part of the living space is used daily. As with everything, it is not so evenly distributed here. But you know what? Regardless of our living situation, we should always make the most of where we live.

"Our" house

Now I may have very easy talking in a detached farmhouse with a charming thatched roof. If I had to live in a small apartment built in between other houses, with only a square meter of outdoor space, I would go completely crazy. But no matter how you live, you will have to make the best of it, and create a home in your house!

In the photos you see "our" detached farmhouse. Now I deliberately put "our" in quotes. Because as you can understand, there is actually nothing of us. We are lucky enough to be able to rent this farm. If we had had to buy, we wouldn't have lived here. But by renting we can still call this our home. And then we are talking about an old detached farmhouse with a thatched roof. And what makes it so pleasant for us here is that sweet smell of freedom! We have space around us here. And that space, it gives us privacy! We could run around in our pajamas here without worrying about the neighbor catching us. It's great to have the luxury of a backyard where we can enjoy whatever we want, if we fancy a garden party there's no one to bother. And a game of football with the dogs is a daily activity. And let's not forget that we wake up every morning to a beautiful view of green pastures instead of a brick wall. It's like a vacation destination in your own home!

There is a big difference between HOUSE and HOME

But if you don't live to your liking yet, know that there is a big difference between a house and a home. A house is just a building, a collection of walls and roofs. But a home, that's where your heart is. And that home, that can be somewhere completely different from where your house is. Your home can be a place where you can be yourself, where you are loved and appreciated.

Despite the fact that we live here freely, I attach little value to the house. I value the freedom, peace and privacy that I can and can still experience here. But if this house were in a city center, I wouldn't live in it. What makes this house my home is the company with which I live in this house, and the nature around me.

And I am incredibly grateful for what we have! The vieuws are stunning, year round!

That's my home... no matter the size of our house.

Lol ... sorry to disappoint you. But the landlord kept the land, and we have the house and a backyard. So no acres of land for us, but we still have nothing to complain about because we have all the land surrounding us, and our backyard is big enough for us to play football with the dogs and grow some veggies.

We have a very little house but yes it is enough for us to have a home.

Having a home close to the nature is really a great blessing. Your eyes could look afar and no walls or roofs could hinder you from looking a beautiful scene of the nature.

Beautiful view, there is no place like home. This view might really help when going through hard times

The view does help that's for sure. But I still have to remind myself at times how lucky I am ... because when you live here every day, you lose your sense of gratefulness, and you don't see the beauty surrounding you.

gratitude, always be grateful for the little blessings around you. Why dont you see the beauty and a sense of gratefulness when you live there,?

It may sound spoiled or weird, but even here you can have lots of worries that make it hard to really open your eyes and enjoy what you have.

Thanks sis, we are grateful, but as you know ... sometimes you forget to appreciate and value those things because you're so used to it.

You have so much space around your house. I'm a bit jealous of that 😀
Thanks for joining the #POBPhotocontest

Yeah, it's the surrounding space here that makes it worth living here and makes me call this place my home. Like I said, if I had to live built in between houses, I'd get crazy.
