WE85 post topics: a valuable lesson learnt

I will like to appreciate the effort of @galenkp and the #weekend-engagement for putting this up to share a valuable lesson learnt in our life time which I really find interesting and awesome to partake on because I believe it's really a memory that cannot be forgotten so soon.

Which is why I choose the second option which says;

Tell us about a time you learned a very valuable lesson. What was it, the circumstances around it, how did the learning process go and what was the result?

Learning actually can come in different forms it is not by you attending a class or lectures alone to acquire knowledge but also experience life in another dimension. I have learnt a lesson that not everyone who smiles at you really likes you or is happy with you so in that aspect we should be careful with the kind of people we move with and also share our secrets with.

I worked in an Indian company here in Nigeria in the year 2011, where I needed to work to gather savings so that I would use the money to sponsor myself to school to study engineering in higher institution if definitely I gain admission.

During my time working in the company my salary was thirty-five thousand naira which was approximately around $100 then, so earning such I decided to do contribution with some people in other to gather my money without saving it in a bank then. We were ten in numbers that were involved in this contribution and each person will contribute twenty thousand which is two hundred thousand naira for each person every month which was around $570 that time and I was the last person to collect the contribution because my plan was to go to school the following year.

I had a friend working with me in the same company and I do tell him my plans of going to school and also the contribution am doing in other to sponsor myself to school and this person I call my friend do advise me that it's definitely a good idea to go to school and also to sponsor myself as well and he has been very nice to me not knowing he has something in mind against me.

The time for me to collect my own contribution was first week of December that year and I told my friend the day I would collect my own share because once everyone is been paid his or her salary they will gather their own share of the contribution in cash then give it to the next person to collect for that month.

When I collected my own contribution it was on a Saturday evening after work and my friend escorted me home not knowing he had something in mind. Later that night I was robbed at home by three unknown people but unfortunately for them one of them was apprehended by security guards in the area and when he was been asked who sent him it was there I confirmed it was that my friend that sent them to rob me. But unfortunately for them their plans failed and i was surprised that my friend could do such to me since then am always careful with the kind of people I tell or share my secrets with because not everyone is really happy with you so we just need to be careful and that was what I learnt from my past experience not to disclose some important things to outsiders if it not necessary.

This is a familiar story, friends taking advantage of friends. I guess human greed is powerful huh? I hope it worked out for you.

This is so sad. Sometimes when people don't trust their friends some people will be out there trying to think that that person does not want them or she/himh is jealous.
