Are people really that lazy?

Lazy people

A phenomenon in society

This is not the first time I noticed it and I talked about that with my wife, friends, and coworkers multiple times in the last years. I'm noticing a shift in society in many different aspects but I just want to talk about laziness today. And I don't mean the one day when you are at home and don't want to clean up. No, really lazy people who don't want to do anything. Even at work, they would prefer to get money just for sleeping and they do when they get the chance. Night shifts are a beautiful thing, don't you think? I met a few of these guys over the years.

How did I come up with this topic?

Well, it started 2 days ago, while I was showing a new coworker how the guarding tour works. He seemed okay with it, besides the fact that he would not get a metro or a bus when the guarding tour ends in the middle of the night. So the only thing I knew at this point, was as he had no car. Today I talked with my boss and he said I have to do the tour tomorrow again because he believes that coworker will not appear. The coworker told my boss that there will be no metro or bus at night. What I did not know was that he doesn't live that far away and he could use a bike or walk to work, and after the boss asked him that, he was indignant and could not understand why he should do that. Also, the walking in the guarding tour was too much. I'm probably double as old as him and I walk to the 8th floor without problems. Elevators are not allowed, so you use the stairs.

This is just one example of laziness.

I could tell a few more stories which I experienced the last years but I want to hear yours in the comment. Do you know people who don't want to walk at all, or park directly in front of the store? Or something else?

I'm baffled. Work being a walking distance away is awesome, you even get to save on gas or fare. It amazes me the way people are sometimes. !PIZZA

Interesting topic you have for us today. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a rise in the number of lazy folks all over the globe. I don't know why but you'll find more who do not go out of their way to do a really good job, even if they were paid for it anyway. Locally, there are some who work really hard; sadly, they do not get as much pay. Such is the harsh reality of life and living. Hope you'll have a hardworking co-worker soon. An advance happy weekend!

It doesn't need to be a hard-working coworker, but not being willing to walk to a job for 30 min, is killing me. I had to do that even during my school time. My mom showed me a few times which way I have to go when I was six and came to school and then I walked the ~30 min way. Nowadays, every kid gets driven to school even if they live around the corner.
Enjoy your weekend!

That's right! I know people who ask for money and then you have to run after it for months. They do not say anything about how and if they pay it back. You have to constantly ask for it and I mean not every day. I ask maybe every 3 months and some of them look at you and say: 'I owe you money?'

Thanks for commenting. Are you still on vacation?

LOL. I am encountering a lot of this kinds of laziness. I am a lazy person but I saw and far more lazier individuals. One example would be when riding in public utility vehicles, I've seen and heard a lot of person that would endure being stuck in a traffic even if they are just 2 meters only to where they want to get off. They are willing to wait 5 minutes or more for the the car to moved 2 meters before stopping the car to get off. 😅

That is crazy lazy. 😂
I once parked 3 park slot further away and got the question why I parked that far away. To much to walk with the heavy bags now. I was confused.

Dont think they are lazy, rather see more and more people loosing their meaning of life and see no deep sense in the things they should do !ALIVE

Yes, people are that lazy. The sad thing is that laziness breeds more laziness. The hard workers, picking up all the slack of the sluggards, at some point say "why am I doing all this?" and quit. Either they apply their hard work somewhere else, or they learn from the bums how to live lazy.

Oh yeah, it’s an interesting one. I am surprised of how many things I learn from people that do things that I would never imagine people would do or in this case, wouldn’t do.

People are entitled to make their choices: they will be the ones living with the consequences. The problem for me is if they create additional work for me and I do nothing about it.

Oh yes! That's on another level and I got this 2 times in this company. If you are just a little bit lazy and don't want to walk or do the stuff on PC, I just do it. It doesn't bother me. But these two. Not only were they lazy, they also made my work harder. That is the point when I get mad.

I fear lazyness but I see its a lot of people around me being attracted to it and I try to stay alert to not falling victim to it ...

I don't mind a lazy day from time to time, but these people would not do anything.

What?
I have to go to work? I have to use the staircase? I have to walk that much? I have to do 3 guarding rounds? I have to use a park slot and can't park just in front of the doctors house?

The examples are countless...
It's like a plague.

As the saying goes ( I like work I can watch it all day). The lazy one's are out there.I'm lazy myself but my stuff gets done. Obviously this guy didn't want the job.It sounds too much like worK. It doesn't matter where you are in the world there are those that want to get paid for doing nothing. To tell the truth they do get paid for doing nothing. Our gov't has social assistance and welfare assistance for those who can't afford to live by there own means. Be it health issues or can't get work or don't want to work.

No idea about the averag people , but can only speak for my self , i always thought of people like that , that they didn't want to work , until i got my burn-out in 2008 and 14 years later still without a job , depression , anxiety, easy distracted by sound , lights and smell things i never had before on this level in my life make it impossible to function normally, a year ago i wasn't even able to get out of the house on my own ,, now i can take the car and drive almost anyware alone go into a store and buy what i want.
But one wrong sound or light and i need to sit down and slow down .
In otther words what you see on the outside might not be what is happening on the inside.

Mental illness is a BITCH , it's easier for people to understand that youcan't walk with a broken legg then with a broken mind.

I know very well what you are talking about. My wife had burned out 2 years ago and was nearly 2 years at home. Luckily she is okay again, but I observe any bad behavior on her side. She did a lot of things herself to get the burnout without noticing it. But that is not what I mean by lazy people. Not the exhaustion because of all the stress and depression. I had depression too many years ago and could somehow handle it after a few months. I don't know what I exactly did. All I know is that one day I hated it to be like that and that I can't live like that anymore. But sometimes it comes up like a dark cloud and I sit here in sadness and melancholy. No one will think that I had depression because I'm usually a funny guy and always open to jokes.

Hope you get out of it and I wish you the best!

Many people nowadays are lazy, but it all depends on how they are raised, motivation and willingness to work. Sometimes a person can lose the eagerness to work, from the environment in which he/she works.

Unfortunately it is as you say @chaosmagic23, people are becoming lazy and expect to get things with the least effort 😥.

This situation here in my country is very common and even more so when, due to government policies, many companies closed and there were fewer employment opportunities and minimal social programs were created and many people got used to waiting for them to be given instead of working. Now wages are very low and miracles have to be done to be able to pay for the basic needs of the family and there are still social projects that people wait for or others who get used to looking for someone diligent and generous to stick to when situations arise. it squeezes them instead of striving to work hard to get what they need. It is very sad and the new generations are growing up where these models are normal. That is why for our children to be different, we must make a greater effort to teach them that things have to be earned and that we have to be diligent and cultivate good qualities, to break with these schemes and that they can be responsible people and that they are valued in their activities and have a sense of achievement, no matter where they are.

There are lazy people truly. Most of the time, it comes down to values and standards. I like to walk because I know my health would benefit from it. But I know a few people who would prefer a ride for a ridiculously short distance.

I came in from dreemport.
