Who do you delegate your HP to? A new entry and some thoughts - September 5, 2022

avatar

Hi guys, here is my update after more than a week since the last time. I noticed that the accounts that are exclusively curators generally make less because they only use the voting power, wasting the remaining potential of managing HP. For this reason I think it is more useful to support more those who develop ideas that create diversity and greater value for Hive, in this way it is easier for them to create value also for delegators. So I plan to narrow my list down a bit for next time to follow this logic, while continuing to increase the total value of my delegations. But now let's get started!

New in this update:

  • A new entry on my list which now includes 12 different accounts.
  • I have increased the value of some delegations again, now the total used is about 290 HP.

What is this post for?

I thought it was interesting to share with you what I am doing here on Hive regarding the delegation of HP (Hive Power) with the aim of receiving daily or weekly rewards.

I am currently delegating these accounts and all of them will be used in this experimental analysis:

I am not involved with any of the accounts or projects to whom I have delegated, so consider my report as an independent way to analyze them or to verify their profitability.

Here is some information on each account and on the rewards that are distributed, also in brackets the total value of HP managed through delegations:

  • brofi (+350k HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid BRO token.
Only works if you use at least about 30 HP.
  • curangel (+2M HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid Hive.
  • dustsweeper (+15k HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid Hive.
  • ecency (+1M HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid Hive.
    (P) Daily payout in liquid ecency points, useful only if you regularly post quality content and use an ecency interface to use your points, as they cannot currently be sold on the market. I looked at it as if I used all the points in the boost tool.
I've added ecency twice so you can check the results with or without points.
  • hiveupme (+50k HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid UPME token and liquid WINEX token and liquid VAULT token.
  • hodlcommunity (+60k HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid Hive.
  • leo.voter (+2M HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid LEO token.
  • lolzbot (+5k HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid LOLZ token.
  • steembasicincome (+70k HP managed)
    (P) Payout is done by upvoting your new posts, useful only if you regularly post quality content.
Only works if you are already an enrolled member.
  • tipu (+1M HP managed)
    (D) Daily payout in liquid Hive.
  • ua-promoter (+150k HP managed)
    (W) Weekly payout in liquid Hive and liquid UAP token.
  • youarealive (+5k HP managed)
    (W) Weekly payout in liquid ALIVE token.

Why is delegating useful?

  • To help independent and promising projects on Hive and make decentralization possible in the form of community support. Through your delegation they will borrow your Resource Credits and Voting Power for their growth goals.
  • If you have a lot of HP and don't want to be an assiduous curator, you can avoid leaving it unused and receive rewards in exchange for your support.
  • If you're low on HP, you can avoid losing your curator rewards when the posts or comments you vote don't hit the $0.02 minimum payout.

I will not go into the merits of how the HP I delegate is used, I advise you to choose not only on the basis of the promised rewards but also on the way in which your delegation will be used based on the information provided through their accounts (I invite you to visit their profile pages or their official websites to find out more). I'm reporting what I do, it's just a game to me, so do your own research and evaluation before delegating your HP. Also, keep in mind that historical results do not guarantee anything for the future.

Some information on my report:

The results come from the rewards that I have personally received and are based on values that are not always precise and predictable, so consider an inevitable deviation of error. Also, my delegations usually start at 10 HP so I can't tell you if they will work even with lower amounts.

Values are based on the 7 days prior to the publication of this post. The resulting APR is an annual projection of these values and does not take into account any compound interest.

Some pay in Hive Engine tokens so I used the today's value as if I had sold them on the market (the price on the buyer side). I did the same when I had to convert the value of HBD or US dollar to Hive.

Some pay by upvoting your new posts or you can request to convert your rewards into upvote, so I used the author net worth of the upvote that could be received as if all rewards had been used. However, this is generally not possible on a regular basis due to thresholds and approvals but the rewards are not lost so they can be accumulated and used at a later time.

And finally here are the results for the last 7 days:

If you like what I do then you could leave a comment to let me know what you think. If you want you can also suggest other accounts to delegate to add them to my list. I will be the only one to decide, however, if it is worth adding them based on my personal considerations.

That's all for now,
I hope you enjoyed it 😊

New to Hive? Here is what I learned to have a good stay here:

  • Do not copy/paste & Do not spam & Do not flood
  • Take your own photos or, if necessary, use the copyright-free ones
  • Do not upvote your own posts and comments
  • Interact with others & Do it in a meaningful way

Do you have experience on Hive instead? Feel free to leave your suggestions, I'm here to grow and improve.

Thank you!

cool! i wonder why ecency seems to lead by so much.. i know it's not their fault at all, but some spammer low life that copied an ecency post and stole some HIVE from me before.. oh well, thats long past already.. 😉🤙

I'm confused. How did they steal your hives?

i'm not certain how it works, but something like they (the scammer) cloned a legit ecency intro post of a new hiver, and i wanted to upvote it and say welcome, but it asked me for my key.. i thought it was just a ecency thing (this was back when i just started hive after 2 yrs off and i was only used to steemit before.. so they captured that key, even though it looked like it was hidden/just dots.. a couple days later.. 700 HIVE suddenly sent to some wallet I never even heard of.. :(

now i know to NEVER put ur keys into anyform other than keychain or an official hive window, such as HIVE market. I also know that ecency or peakd or hive.org or any frontend will always just login using keychain, so i learned from it. 😉

OMG I'm very sorry. Now I understand perfectly. I also do like you to avoid any risk. For ecency in particular I always use the smartphone app from the play store. In other cases, keychain is a guarantee for me.

What can I get if I delegate my HP?

I wrote it right on my post. The percentages you see are APR (Annual Percentage Rates). So with a rate of, for example, 10% if you delegate 100 HP you receive 10 Hive over a year. About 0.20 Hive every week.

I delegated my 40hp @ecency and everyday I received 0.010 hive everyday. I don't Know which is profitable ? Should I manually upvote or delegate my HP?

I tried to explain this in my post:

ecency (+1M HP managed)
(D) Daily payout in liquid Hive.
(P) Daily payout in liquid ecency points, useful only if you regularly post quality content and use an ecency interface to use your points, as they cannot currently be sold on the market. I looked at it as if I used all the points in the boost tool.
I've added ecency twice so you can check the results with or without points.

You currently earn 4 ecency points every day for your delegation. Check your wallet on ecency to see them.

Since you have low HP and use ecency you could delegate as much as possible and use all your points to boost your posts. This way you can maximize your income! However, keep enough HP to yourself so you don't run out of resources.

If, on the other hand, you find that you have more points than you can use with the boosts, maybe you could change your strategy and delegate less.

This was a really useful post, as I've added some of these accounts to my own delegations that I make. Need to keep on building my HP now, this might have cost me a bit in the short-term but for long term gains :-)
