Who do you delegate your HP to? A personal comparison for the last 7 days (August 17, 2022)

(Edited)

Hi all guys, I thought it was interesting to share with you an experiment that I am doing here on Hive regarding the delegation of HP with the aim of receiving daily (D) or weekly (W) revenues.

Why is delegating useful?

  • To help independent and promising projects on Hive and make decentralization possible in the form of community support. Through your delegation they will borrow your resource credits and voting power for their growth goals.
  • If you have a lot of HP and don't want to be an assiduous curator, you can avoid leaving it unused and receive revenues in exchange for your support.
  • If you're low on HP, you can avoid losing your curator earnings when the posts or comments you vote don't hit the $0.02 minimum payout.

I am currently delegating these accounts but not all of them will be used in this experimental comparison:

In this post I compare the following:

  • brofi
Daily (D) payout in BRO token
At least 30 HP to work properly
  • ecency
Daily (D) payout in Hive (and ecency points, only if you use ecency regularly)
  • leo.voter
Daily (D) payout in LEO token
  • lolzbot
Daily (D) payout in LOLZ token
  • ua-promoter
Weekly (W) payout in Hive and UAP token
  • youarealive
Weekly (W) payout in ALIVE token

I will not go into the merits of how the HP I delegate is used, I advise you to choose not only on the basis of the promised earnings but also on the way in which your delegation will be used based on the indications of the individual promoters (I invite you to visit their profiles to get more information about them). I'm just reporting on my experiments, it's just a game to me, so do your own research and evaluation before delegating your HP. Also, always keep in mind that historical results do not guarantee anything for the future.

I am not involved with any of the users or projects to whom I have delegated, so consider my experiment as an independent way to compare them or to verify their profitability.

The calculations I made come from my personal experience and are based on values that are not always precise and predictable, so consider an inevitable deviation of error. Also, my delegations always start at 10 HP so I can't tell you if they will work even with lower amounts.

Values are based on the 7 days prior to the publication of this post. The resulting APR is an annual projection of these values and does not take into account any compound interest.

Some pay in Hive Engine tokens, so I used the today's value of the tokens as if I had sold them on the market, so it is the market price on the buyer side. I did the same when I had to convert the HBD value to Hive.

Ecency has been indicated twice because I have entered ecency+ to also include ecency points in the calculations. Ecency+ row is useful ONLY for those who use ecency regularly and can therefore use ecency points, since currently they cannot be sold on the market.

And finally here are the results:

If you like what I did let me know in the comments. If you want you can also suggest other accounts to delegate to add them to my experiment list. I will be the only one to decide, however, if it is worth adding them based on my personal evaluations.

Hope you enjoyed it 😊

New to Hive? Here is what I learned to have a good stay here:

  • Do not copy/paste & Do not spam & Do not flood
  • Take your own photos or, if necessary, use the copyright-free ones

💪😉 awesome post. its really helpful to see the numbers..

I am quite surprised at a couple of those results since I do delegate a small bit but don't really even think of it in terms of getting anything back. just to help hive. and what u seem to get looks very very tiny. (in terms of actual HIVE)

Yes, some surprised me too, without putting on paper you can't understand what is happening, I did it also for this

I delegate my Hive to @liotes.voter. They pay out in LEN, which in return I but back in the LP pool. I don't know the precise APR but I like the owner and project. Some way to give them some support and receive something in return as well. Do you recommend any projects? I am fairly new to Hive, because I came here from splinterlands.

Hi and thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look at it. You do well to delegate to a project you like 😊 I'm experimenting, I think there are a lot of good projects on Hive that are worth supporting.

Thank you for sharing, this was really interesting.

In the Ecency+, the points you get. Did you just count the value of the points, or did you convert them to boost or promotion?

This is a very good question! I converted the value as if I had used them all via boost on my posts. I will write it more clearly in the next post. Thanks for stopping by 😊

Thank you, can I assume you did not include the curation value as well?

Thank you for sharing the info, I found it very interesting and helpful. =)

I confirm. Rewards for the author only. Basically half upvote, with dollar value conversion in Hive.
