Crypto Holiday; Real estate, cars and overpriced shopping malls

Exploring Abuja has been an interesting experiment and turned to be more fun than I expected. I and @wolfofnostreet decided to explore the city to seek out ways to have fun.

During our expedition, I noticed that the real estate in Abuja was way better than anywhere else that I've been to in Nigeria.

Don't get me wrong, Kaduna is better than Bayelsa, but Abuja really tops the list. Unlike Lagos where they're constrained by space, Abuja doesn't lack that.

In lagos, it's common to find a bit more than necessary being squeezed into a tiny space. However, in Abuja there's a lot of space for car parks, recreational facilities and a lot more.

I also find the quality of the structures in the city to be at a considerably higher level than other cities in the country.

I noticed that there's considerably more investment in landed property. Also, unlike Lagos where land is expensive because of unavailability, in Abuja, it's expensive because you of the potential value for money that you'll derive.

For example, I enquired from the Bolt driver that the price of a plot of land in an exclusive estate like Gwarimpa could be as much as 30million Naira (Roughly $58k).

In Lagos, you'd probably pay twice that amount for half the amount of land for piece of land that doesn't hold the same promise.

I also really appreciated the aesthetics that the buildings and the fact that there's a lot of space enables the development of numerous recreational facilities without straining the available land in the city.

Fancy lifestyle

Another thing that struck me in Abuja was the quality of cars I saw in the streets.

There's no other way to put it, people in this city absolutely love their luxury sedans. The number of modern luxury sedans in the city is pretty astonishing.

I saw cars that I'd normally only see on TV. Even the dealerships sell fancy ass cars that I don't usually see on the street.

I think this is because the general cost of living is relatively higher than my city. Alternatively, it might also be because there's more cash flow in the city.

I'm guessing this larger cash flow is the reason why the cost of rent is at least twice as much as other cities in the country. Then again, it is definitely also related to the fact that real estate is a very big deal around here.

Overall, I think some things were value for money but the shopping mall in Jabi had ridiculous prices. For example Oraimo Pod2 earphone that retails for #12,000 on most shops was selling for #25,000.

I enjoyed myself

Overall, I enjoyed myself and learned a bit more about my society. I started seeing opportunity in different places and mentally noted a bunch of investment opportunities.

I also noticed that the crypto community in this city is quite large. The only issue is that people can't come out in the open with their interest because of government hounding.

During my conversation with my friend, he instructed me to keep my voice down on some occasions because "you never know who's listening". So they generally keep the conversations on the hush hush.

I also randomly heard two gentlemen talking about crypto at the bowling alley and thay was a new one for me.

Abuja is a really nice place and if you're ever in Nigeria, I suggest you visit it. It's the capital of the country, so it's kind of expensive but you mostly get value for money.

There are multiple ways to have fun and so much activity to participate in to keep you busy. I loved this semi-holiday and now, I look forward to returning home tomorrow.

Well most people I know that got into it simply just went to owners of apartments/lands and made an offer to them.

You are making me miss Abuja seriously, always loved it there and still trying to relocate back.

Everything there was just better to me in comparison with all the states I visited but it is quite expensive to live there.

Also, Jabi mall is a den of thieves, everything is doubled in price.

Man that mall is horrible. Like why is everything so expensive there? Did all the shops agree to be dick heads?

They always say it's because of how expensive the rent is or something but the ice cream shop opposite cold stone is pretty cheap.

In lagos, it's common to find a bit than necessary being squeezed into a tiny space.

Lagos people have Ikwerre-man tendencies.

Abuja had me opening my mouth like a tilapia every two secs. The place was just astounding. Also, I got to see more greens than I ever did in my lifetime. I also noted great investment opportunities and it struck me how much I would just enjoy living there. The cars are just... awesome. But I kept wondering if they have a thing for tinted windows? Like...whadup?

I'll be going back to Abuja November next year more prepared. I enjoyed this year's visit.
