Open Your Eyes

Saturnin, the famous scientist of the elves, was writhing in pain on the bed in his room, and cold drops of sweat were sitting on his skin. After years of experimenting on different elves and introducing the virus into their bodies, now that virus had entered his own body.

He reached out and took some painkillers from the small table next to the bed and ate them. The pain slowly left his body and a pleasant sleepiness took over him. He closed his eyes and the moments of his life got imprinted in his mind.

When he had just graduated from university and the orc army had invaded their land and the elves were being torn apart in front of his eyes, he had decided to use a deadly virus to fight the orcs despite the opposition of his colleagues.

He injected the virus into a number of volunteer elves, and the result was that some of them died quickly, but those who survived became stronger.

He injected them with that virus again and this time too some died and the remaining number became stronger. Saturnine repeated this process again and again until he could form a powerful army of elves and destroyed the orcs.

Now that virus was injected into Saturnin by the lover of one of the volunteers who died during the experiment and brought him to the brink of death. Something he thought he would never experience. He thought he was going to live forever and protect his land against all dangers.

But maybe it would be better to abandon this ambitious dream and be satisfied with what he has achieved so far and not resist death and surrender himself to it with open arms.

He smiled and distanced himself from all his past memories and looked at the white light in the distance and walked towards it. He did not know whether heaven or hell was waiting for him on the other side, but he intended to accept whatever was offered to him with his heart and soul.

The bright light was getting closer and closer every moment, and Saturnin felt the weight of his body gradually decrease and his steps become lighter. He had almost reached the light when suddenly someone shook him violently and shouted his name:
"Saturnin!"

He opened his eyes and saw Ocia, the vengeful lover, staring at him worriedly.

"Hold on, you must not die."

He opened his mouth and said while the words were barely coming out of it.
"But… you… wanted… me… to die."

"I was wrong. The grief of losing Karel made my heart ache so much that it made me look for someone to blame for his death and condemn you."

"So... you don't... hate... me anymore?"

"No."

Saturnin smiled.
"I'm… glad to... hear that."

And he closed his eyes and Ocia shook him hard again.
"Please don't sleep. Open your eyes and look at me. You shouldn't leave me alone like Karel."

And tears gathered in his eyes and flowed down his cheeks and fell on the face of Saturnin who had left the world a moment ago.
