Navigating the Boundaries: Privacy in the Virtual and Physical Worlds

(Edited)

WHO ARE YOU?, WHO AM I IN THE VIRTUAL WORLD?..Privacy protection is an important issue in our lives, either virtually or in the real world. The digital world can be an exciting place where lots of activities take place, but regardless of this, some information about us should be kept private.
I think I was in the category of people who realized this knowledge very late, but it's never too late to start doing the needful.

In the past, I used to share a lot about myself on the net without considering privacy and safety, until I learned the hard way. I wouldn't say that, to date, I don't share any information about my real life on the Internet, but it has limitations. When it comes to uploading my progress and achievements, you wouldn't see me doing that on the Internet, no matter how rosy or sad my marriage is, I wouldn't share. There are noisy neighbors, and the need to put up a fence and be saved cannot be overlooked.

Over the years, I have met different kinds of people online who never disclosed anything about their real lives in this virtual space; they only focus on why they are in the space without any trace of who they really are, not even their gender or information concerning their family. I also have some people close to me in the social space, but regardless of how close we are, they never disclose details about their real-life identity, but just a bit of it. If anything should make me think of visiting them by surprise, of course it may be difficult because I have no idea of their addresses. This is how their level of privacy is in the virtual space.

However, regardless of which category you fall into, it's very difficult to hide our true identity in the physical world although . Even if we do, sooner or later, it can be traced, maybe based on our work, the location we live in, or even our physical appearance. But then, it's totally different when we talk of our virtual identity. People display a different lifestyle, which is totally different from who they are physically. For example, I know of a full-time pastor in the real world who only showcases himself as a crypto enthusiast virtually. You will never know his true identity online. I have also seen cases of fake life online, people showcasing what they are not either to impress or to be recognized in the public. The thing is that the virtual world has a way of pushing some individuals to become what they never really wanted to be; it's a struggle. I think the best thing is not to judge or trust anyone based on their online lifestyle.

There are various reasons why privacy is important for humans, both virtually and physically. If you are the type that shares every single thing about you virtually, it could lead to a physical attack, kidnapping, or financial crisis. It could put you and your family in danger because some people will be on the fence looking for a tiny piece of information about you, and then they will strike. Lack of privacy makes us vulnerable to those who want to attack us. You can decide to give out some information we feel like disclosing and keep sensitive information away from the public for safety reasons. There should be certain information we can keep away in order to protect us and our resources, whereas we can withhold some information and lose a contract or an opportunity. The goal is to be wise while dealing with privacy issues.

Let's talk about our digital assets. We all have bank accounts, wallets, passwords, hive keys, and other certain information that shouldn't be exposed but should be well protected to avoid intruders having access to it. You wouldn't want to lose your assets, would you? Double-guiding these properties with stronger passwords is a necessity.

Lack of privacy makes us vulnerable to those who want to attack us.

This is the part where I love so much. Recently, I read a tweet where two married couples were dragging themselves online on something they would have settled privately without bringing it to the virtual world. And I tell you this, this particular act will cause them their marriage.
Like you said ma, it is not everything that we are meant to be sharing all in the name of social media. It's important we set boundaries for both our physical and virtual life.

Imagine the pregnant woman who her husband caught her cheating, the man video her and share it online, she could not take the heat that was coming from the virtual world couple with the shame of facing her people in the real world, she committed suicide. 😢

We all need privacy, whether in our right state or wrong...that's why sometimes I feel for this celebrities because they don't have privacy oo everything they do, bloggers are on a watch to spread it.

That is it, the earlier we have this knowledge, the better for our own good. It hurts for your private life to be seen in the public and you know what? Our privacy is I our hands. We can guard it !
Thanks for your awesome feedback 🥰

I was the kind of person who shared everything on the internet. I learned my lesson the hard way and I changed. We have many people following you on the internet with just the intention of monitoring. They monitor you without your knowledge. When you see their comments on other people's post, you would begin to wonder that they are still around. Many of such people are waiting to read bad news and grin. It's good to keep them in the dark. The best they should be doing is guessing.

It seems many people are curious to see my face😅😅. I revealed my face 3 times at least. all the time there were some other people with me. You can find those 3 posts and find the common man. You will find me easily. The bad thing is that finding those 3 posts is difficult for you. In fact, I also need a lot of time to find those posts.🤣. Otherwise, you can wait for other post to reveal my face.

Safeguarding our privacy in the online world has never been very important.

Certain things should remain private no matter what. I know of some celebrities who still manage to keep their private life away from the eyes of the public because they know the consequences of sharing those information online.

Not oversharing personal information about ourselves doesn't mean we can still be interesting online. !LUV
